Mine DC and others DC&DCC at local MRC seem to do this after about 5 to 10 minutes use, even off track.  Few vids on Youtube of the 92 doing similar, mine is behaving same as my long departed S15.  I'm just going to live with it, as I don't normally have running continuously ,only really found out from club so tried it at home on my roundy roundy layout.

Thanks for that, having checked out those videos and the comments it does seem to be the same problems, the locos are pulling too many amps. Will look to send back for repair now.

  2. Hi, Three of my AS Deltic's (DCC Sound) have started to suddenly perform very strangely. All three are now running very jerkily, accelerating/decelerating too quickly, sudden increases and decreases of speed, and often running at a speed contrary to the controller input.

My other Deltics (and all other locos) are still running ok so I'm not sure if its track issue or the models themselves malfunctioning. In one case the engine was running fine for a while and then started to jerk violently, before running ok and then again jerking.

Does this sound like a dirty track/wheels problem, a track connectivity issue or something else?

When you say jerky do you mean it stops and won't start again without a prod (in which case Phil's answer above would be my first port) or does it run but poorly in which case I would look at my decoder instructions and consider whether it is optimised for the mechanism in your model. In my experience Bachmann chips can be very pernickety in this respect but are corrected by the changing of one CV as per the instruction leaflet.

The model just runs poorly. Can you recommend any CV's that could be changed from say default?

  4. I'm still having problems with this decoder, the speaker is slipping down when the body is attached and is interfering with the motor, causing poor performance at slow speed and a constant sound. Is there a remedy?

Take the body off, leave the body off, check the grey and orange wires for damage or that they might be touching something.  Sometimes putting the body on nips them.

Thanks, it was the speaker pressing down on the drive shaft, seem to be good now.

What would the recommended Acceleration, Deceleration and Start Voltage be for the HST on a smallish layout?

  6. Hi,

I've coded both decoders for this product under the same address on the Hornby Elite. (I did it separately and the engine car worked fine, up until the dummy was attached)

Now I have sounds/lights working correctly in both units, however absolutely no drive? Does this mean there is an error with the motors/decoders now?

I used 70 acceleration and deceleration and 10 for Start Voltage.

    Any advice?
