I have an 8 x 4 layout but I am struggling to focus on a specific theme, I have too much rolling stock and too many buildings/structures etc. I need someone with more focus to kick start me off.

8 x 4 what? Feet? Inches? Metres? Furlongs?
More seriously, you'll get better feedback if you create a thread in one of the appropriate fora/sub-fora. The single status updates are more for throw-away whimsy, and not everyone reads them. Also, they fall 'below the fold' pretty quickly.
It will also help people to help you if you give them more information on your modelling interests: era; region; operational aspects (e.g. shunting puzzle vs. 'roundy-roundy') etc. etc. The kind of information that you might want from someone for you to help them; rather than having to read their mind. A track plan or photos, details of rolling stocking etc. might help.
