Buckingham Road now closed to traffic (bottom) and pedestrian access only on Police Station side of the road to the zebra crossing opposite the bus station (for access to town centre).

Traffic queuing past the worksite on Water Eaton Road (top) to get through the traffic light protected single lane bridge under the West Coast Main Line.

Can’t wait to see the new cranes. When will they start work on the bridge removing them?

We received this useful 12 page booklet in the post today addressed to The Occupier. No doubt lots of others got them too!

It contains some useful information on the general scheme and the upgrade of Bletchley Flyover.

It clearly was prepared for earlier delivery as it gives all the road closures discussed on here for the month of June.

The main information of interest is

Full closure of Buckingham Road* to road traffic will take place from 5th July until 30th August. The booklet contains details of the planned diversionary route via Standing Way (H8). A protected walkway will be provided on one side only for pedestrian use. When this is closed a free bus service will operate at 15 minute intervals between the railway and bus stations which lies close to the Brunel Centre on the east (town) side of the West Coast Main Line which is 5 mins walk.

*The dual carriageway section between the Police Station / Railway station roundabout between Sherwood Drive / Water Eaton Road and the Brunel Centre roundabout is the affected road. This is the main link between East / West Bletchley.

Local traffic will use Water Eaton Road and Manor Road to reach Fenny Stratford and the Town Centre (via Fenny Stratford).

Partial closure of Buckingham Road will take place between 1 September and 7 December.

The booklet explains that this is necessary due to the removal of the flyover. It also explains the following work requirements:

Removal of street furniture including lighting

    Installation of hoardings

Installation of a crane mat for the 1000ton crane on Buckingham Road

Erection of cranes at Duncombe Street site and Buckingham Road

    Lifting out the spans

Transportation of removed spans to the Water Eaton Road compound

    Removal of pier heads

    Dismantling and removal of cranes

Finally a note saying that enhanced security will be on site and fully patrolled.

Could you screenshot the pages of the booklet?

While we're getting some excellent coverage of what's happening around Bletchley, is there anything going on anywhere else along the route?

If you mean what else is happening near the site in Bletchley. There is only just Roadworks on Water Eaton Road for 6-7 weeks. Just removing the give ways, islands. However, adding In speed bumps, repainting zebra crossings, re tarmac the road and adding speed cameras and restriction signs.

Today's activity saw the second section on the lift being lowered ready for demolition. You can see daylight underneath it in the first shot.

The third removed section was being moved by the large crane in readiness for transporting to the slings. Two large road trailers were in position ready to transport it down to the vacant space to the right of the lift. Demolition of the first section looks to have taken around three days.

This is fantastic, what happened to the second span? Did that get demolished? Is there 4 sections out or 3?

Fascinating. It was always TR House when I was there. Officially it became Mercury House when TR was "merged" into Mercury Communications, in April 1990, but everyone still called it TR House.

I haven't seen the inside of that building since 1991. 3.05 in is the 1st floor where I used to sit, facing the power box and steps to the station. The partition rooms down the middle are where equipment was tested-amplifiers and loudspeakers for P.A. and sound broadcast systems, telephone systems and on-site radio pagers. Happy days.

I don’t know if you heard apparently that Mercury House is getting converted into Residential flats. Once they built the flats, the occupants will get a good view of the trains going over the Flyover.

Main activity on site today was the breaking up of the first section (pictured) - there appeared to be little of it remaining. The second section remained on the lifting slings and the third one was still on the lorry. As the lorry will be needed next weekend for the next one, I expect to see it moved during the course of the week.

This is amazing! I saw this happen this morning, I thought they would have took them somewhere else to get demolished.
