  1. Many thanks for the reply, good to know I'm in the right ball park :) the current default plates are just a tad over 1mm thick i plan to extend these further down to the "steps length" and add another 1.1mm think plate on the front of them which will come to a total of about 2.something this should represent the correct thickness as the 1:1, will post a photo here when i get it done on one end. Cheers
  2. Hello I am new to this forum so I hope I have placed my question in the correct section. I have just started the conversion of Dapol Class 08 to a “heavy industry” version this will be the prelude to the creation of a Class 13 pair so currently focusing on the Master Loco. I have been looking at the photos available online via google photo to try and guess the thickness of the buffer plates if you look at this photo (try zoom if you can) (I have just provide a link to it as I am sure they are copyright) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_13#/media/File:Class_13_no._13003,_permanently_coupled_Master-Slave_locomotives,_Tinsley_Marshalling_Yard,_Nigel_Tout,_6.8.74.jpg You will see it is made up of three sheets sandwiched together I’m guessing each sheet being 1inch thick? am sure there are people with a keener eye than me and also with a lot more experience that can correct me if I am wrong If I get an estimate then I can convert this using an online converter to O gauge, i place to make them out of brass sheet which i have plenty off Many Thanks
