  2. The Brighton K is now in stock priced at £135.00 plus postage.  Wheel packs and Motor/Gearbox packs to suit are also available.

Here are some pics of the new etches.  The sheets also contain parts to detail the body:-

LBSC & SR BR style Lamp irons: Tender coal rails for the open and later plated back styles: Doors which can be modelled open or closed.

They are designed to be built ridged or using the High Level Models parts to produce sprung chassis for both loco and tender.

  3. We have a 2500 gal Tender which is I believe is the Dean Tender that  looks very similar to the Churchward Tenders.  We have only just discovered the chassis etch tool.   The 2500 gal tender has a 6'6'' - 6'6" wheelbase.  It also had the 'coffin' tank filler/dome arrangement.  Toolboxes were slightly different.  We still aim to bring that out in the near future

  4. Finally the Aberdare's are available at £120 in two versions  with the GWR 3000 Gal Tender and with the ex ROD Tender.

We've added a few extra details like cab back head / Regulator / Tarpaulin Cab Sheet / Superheater Cover / Whistles / Lance Cock for the front of the Firebox.

The tenders have etched N/S chassis.  The loco is an etched brass chassis (not the original K's stamped one).  It also included the outside cranks in etched brass too.  We have, as usual made new moulds to restore the castings.  The instructions have been revamped providing better detail with some pics showing the new fittings.

Brian will be at Warley (NEC) this weekend and if the courier delivers will have some for sale there.

We, here at Forest Row, also have the kit in stock too.

Do you sell the lubricators on the side of the smokebox of the Ilfracombe goods as a spare part?

We can provide LSWR smokebox lubricators from our Adams Jubilee kit which are probably the same.  They are £2.50 for a pair plus £1.50 postage.  Give us a call 01342 822270

  6. Branchlines will be at Warley with the full range of Nucast kits we have reissued so far.  We hope to see you there.

Our next reissue will be the GWR 26xx Aberdare with either the GWR 3000 gal tender  or  GCR/ROD Robinson tender variants.  We may even have a few by Warley too.  The price has not been decided yet.

As is usual with the reissues new moulds have been made restoring the quality of the castings.  Where possible we try to add some extra details too.

Once we have completed our test build we will put up some photos and more info.

  7. We have considered the Small Ben and would like to bring that back soon (and perhaps the Highland Banker too). but we are missing the sprue of lost wax fine detail castings.  We need somebody to loan the sprue so we can use it to make a sub-master first.  There's a challenge for people

  8. The latest reissue, available from today is the much requested  NC271 GWR Armstrong Goods (with Armstrong Tender).  Price is £120 plus £5 p&p.  Wheels and motor/gear box are not included but can be bought from us.

A whitemetal kit but with etched nickel silver parts for the outside frames. Included is an etched brass chassis with etched N/S coupling rods.  The kit includes outside cranks, but our model has been built using Markits deluxe outside crank axles.

The kit contains a number of variations to build round top or belpare firebox versions . Long or short smokebox with 3 different front plates and smokebox doors. There are also numerous boiler fitting variations.

The tender includes options to use etched coal rails or the larger side fenders fitted to some as depicted in the box photograph.  We hope to reissue the GWR 2500 gal tender version soon (NC271Z).

  9. I don't think it was 2000gal but 2500gal.   The moulds exist and are fairly modern (probably from Autocom days), The loco body moulds are probably the K's originals and are worn out.  The tender is much more detailed than the original K's one would have been, probably for a new redesigned tender it has an etched chassis or though at the moment we can not find the etch tool ref to be able to order them.

Who would be intrested in the Beyer Peacock kit being reintroduced? If we can, we would try to add some extra parts especially some suitable cab detail if we can.

  10. Can you be more specific about the FR 0-6-0 as far as we know we do not have any FR locos in the range, but otherwise orders for those parts for most kits can be accommodated.  Some tenders have etched chassis and we may not have those in stock.

we do not know the full history of how these kits were mixed and matched with the other ranges but certainly at least some of the GWR  tenders do look to have more detail than the K's ones.  But as we have not yet produced any kit requiring a tender we can't be sure.

  11. The GWR 2500 Gal tender is the same one as supplied with the ex K's kits for the Dean Goods, the Beyer Peacock and some of the 4-4-0's.  However it looks to be a completely new kit from the K's one as it has a lot of detail.  It also has a separate etched chassis.   It is not the very early one that looks similar to the Armstrong tender that I've seen in some pictures.  Hope that helps

  12. We still get lots of people asking for either products formally made by us  and also spares for Finecast locos.

We can no longer supply any of those parts as they now belong to Squires. Nor do we do any casting for Squires for the South Eastern Finecast  range.

We can supply almost all castings from the ex Autocom Nucast range, not just parts from the reissued kits.  However some of the old moulds are in poor condition so parts may not be up to the standard we would wish.  We also stock Romford / Markits and Scale Link wheels. For etched parts it's best to contact Branchlines but we do all the whitemetal casting here at Forest Row.

  13. So what next for reissues.  we've been asked for the GWR Armstrong Goods and that is likely to come out soon followed by the Dean Tender version too.

We've been asked for the LNER E4, but how many other people would like like a kit?

  14. We have reissued in a limited run the Pickersgill 4-4-0.  As we are unsure of how well it will sell, we still had a small stock of the Autocom chassis to use up.  This maybe the only chance to get this model.  Like all our other reissues we have remade the moulds to bring back the crispness of the castings

I'm trying to understand what is included in this kit. I assume not wheels/axles, gearbox, motor. Since there is no asterisk, not newly-designed etched frames. So what form does the chassis take?

The kit includes an etched brass chassis for the loco and a N/S one for the tender that includes pull rods. (These are the same as provided by Autocom and not the original stamped brass plates that K's used. We've added some whitemetal brakes for the tender.  For the loco we have provided an additional brass sheet with brake blocks and pull rods or though you can barely see them.1818587609_IMG_01031.jpg.046696eed3b5b152283792daaba1f357.jpg
