  1. As I am 80 this year I have finally decided to retire.  So with immediate effect Nucast at Forest Row has ceased trading.  All of the stock of the reissue kits I held is being passed to Brian at Branchlines who is not closing down.

The future of the Nucast range has not been decided yet and is currently on hold. The moulds and casting machines are now in storage.  We are unable to provide any spares or special orders from the range, or produce more stock.

Please contact Brian on 01373 822231 as he's currently experiencing email problems

  2. We have been busy looking at some of the Tenders in our range with the intention of bringing out Tender only kits. So far we have stocks of NCT1 GWR 2500 Gal Tender tba NCT2 GWR 3000 Gal Tender £45.00 NCT3 GWR 3500 Gal Tender tba NCT4 GWR 4000 Gal Tender tba NCT5 GCR / ROD Robinson 4000 Gal Tender £45.00 NCT6 GWR Hawksworth 4000 Gal Tender tba NCT7 GNR Tender (from the J6 kit) £45.00 We hope to also have both types of the GWR 4000 Gal tender at Expo EM show on 13/14th May
  3. We hope to see many of our customers old and new at the Bracknell Expo EM show 13/14th May with the full range of Nucast reissues.
  4. The Brighton K is now in stock priced at £135.00 plus postage. Wheel packs and Motor/Gearbox packs to suit are also available. Here are some pics of the new etches. The sheets also contain parts to detail the body:- LBSC & SR BR style Lamp irons: Tender coal rails for the open and later plated back styles: Doors which can be modelled open or closed. They are designed to be built ridged or using the High Level Models parts to produce sprung chassis for both loco and tender.
  5. sorry we don't have a web site. email us at daveellis05@gmail.com with details and we will send you the current list
  6. We will be at the Tonbridge show on the 18th Feb 2023 with the full range of reissued kits. Also on display will be the test build of our next re-release the often asked for LBSCR Billington K class 2-6-0 mogul. Sorry we do not have production etches yet, but are happy to take advance order details at the show. We have upgraded the kit with a new etched nickel silver chassis for both loco and tender. The chassis can be sprung using the High Level Models system (parts not included). Both loco and tender chassis now include brakes and pull rods. The loco now has the very distinctive Slide-bars and Motion Bracket rather than square section N/S rod and some very basic castings for the brackets. The chassis includes spacers for 00, EM and P4. We have only built the 00 version and the clearances are very tight behind the crossheads. So EM and P4 modellers will have to use some ingenuity to build the chassis as is often the case in EM - P4. We have also added a number of new castings to the kit which will allow you to build both batches of the loco and covers all periods from as built to their final days on BR in 1962. These include :- The original Brighton Cab and the SR 'SECR style' cab used when they were modified to suit the composite loading gauge by the Southern. Cab details, back-head, regulator, cab splashers ("seats"), floor and reverser. Boiler fittings include the original Brighton Top Feed and the manhole cover for the first series, and a second dome (similar to the C2x's) for the 2nd series to attach the top feed too. Vacuum Ejector Pipe. The reduced height Chimney and Dome for the SR composite loading gauge Along with SR boiler mounted Clack-valves. Choice of Ramsbottom Safety Valve or the later Ross pop changes. The etch also includes Brighton and SR/BR style lamp irons. The Tender etch includes the original open style coal rails and the later plated SR style and cab doors which can be modelled closed or open. Our test build (see attached picture) depicts a typical example of 2nd series as built and running through to circa 1930
  7. No sorry not yet but if enough people put in orders for it that could change
  8. We do intend to reintroduce both, hopefully late spring next year.
  9. We have a 2500 gal Tender which is I believe is the Dean Tender that looks very similar to the Churchward Tenders. We have only just discovered the chassis etch tool. The 2500 gal tender has a 6'6'' - 6'6" wheelbase. It also had the 'coffin' tank filler/dome arrangement. Toolboxes were slightly different. We still aim to bring that out in the near future
  10. Finally the Aberdare's are available at £120 in two versions with the GWR 3000 Gal Tender and with the ex ROD Tender. We've added a few extra details like cab back head / Regulator / Tarpaulin Cab Sheet / Superheater Cover / Whistles / Lance Cock for the front of the Firebox. The tenders have etched N/S chassis. The loco is an etched brass chassis (not the original K's stamped one). It also included the outside cranks in etched brass too. We have, as usual made new moulds to restore the castings. The instructions have been revamped providing better detail with some pics showing the new fittings. Brian will be at Warley (NEC) this weekend and if the courier delivers will have some for sale there. We, here at Forest Row, also have the kit in stock too.
  11. Blandford1969 Posted Wednesday at 17:50 Do you sell the lubricators on the side of the smokebox of the Ilfracombe goods as a spare part? We can provide LSWR smokebox lubricators from our Adams Jubilee kit which are probably the same. They are £2.50 for a pair plus £1.50 postage. Give us a call 01342 822270
  12. Mike I will do my best to get some for Warley, but will not make a firm promise. Email Brian and reserve it though as at the moment we have very limited stocks of etches.
  13. As much as we'd like to we have not commissioned a new chassis etch for this kit, sadly sales do not justify the £500 that would cost.
  14. Branchlines will be at Warley with the full range of Nucast kits we have reissued so far. We hope to see you there. Our next reissue will be the GWR 26xx Aberdare with either the GWR 3000 gal tender or GCR/ROD Robinson tender variants. We may even have a few by Warley too. The price has not been decided yet. As is usual with the reissues new moulds have been made restoring the quality of the castings. Where possible we try to add some extra details too. Once we have completed our test build we will put up some photos and more info.
  15. See the full range of the reissues of the Nucast Range at Warley on the Branchlines stand.

Latest news on the next reissue:-

Our next re-issue will be the GWR 26xx Aberdare in 2 versions - with GWR 3000 Gal Tender and with Robinson GCR/ROD  4000 Gal tenders that many received from the late 1930's.

The kit has a an etched brass loco chassis and the tenders have etched N/S chassis.  We have added extra details to the loco.  It now includes a back head and floor filling in the gap where the larger motors filled when first introduced. Plus some minor detailing parts too.

Like all our reissues we have made new moulds bringing back the crispness of the castings.

We are still building our test model but hope to be able to post some photos soon

Final price has not been decided yet, but we hope to have it out before Christmas.  There may even be a few at Warley!  So go and see Brian if you are there.

  16. We will be at the Uckfield show Saturday & Sunday 15th & 16th October 2022 with the Nucast range. Hope to see customers old and new.

That's good.  I look forward to seeing you there.

  18. We've been quiet with the new reissues due to ill health so here is the next reissue kit to come out NC125 - GER Holden T26 / LNER/BR Class E4 The kit includes a choice of chimney, safety valves and cab sides. Cast in whitemetal with an etched brass loco chassis. Price is £110 plus P & P Wheels Motor Gearbox/gears are not included. We hope to have news of some more planned reissues later this autumn
  19. We have considered the Small Ben and would like to bring that back soon (and perhaps the Highland Banker too). but we are missing the sprue of lost wax fine detail castings. We need somebody to loan the sprue so we can use it to make a sub-master first. There's a challenge for people
  20. The latest reissue, available from today is the much requested NC271 GWR Armstrong Goods (with Armstrong Tender). Price is £120 plus £5 p&p. Wheels and motor/gear box are not included but can be bought from us. A whitemetal kit but with etched nickel silver parts for the outside frames. Included is an etched brass chassis with etched N/S coupling rods. The kit includes outside cranks, but our model has been built using Markits deluxe outside crank axles. The kit contains a number of variations to build round top or belpare firebox versions . Long or short smokebox with 3 different front plates and smokebox doors. There are also numerous boiler fitting variations. The tender includes options to use etched coal rails or the larger side fenders fitted to some as depicted in the box photograph. We hope to reissue the GWR 2500 gal tender version soon (NC271Z).
  21. I don't think it was 2000gal but 2500gal. The moulds exist and are fairly modern (probably from Autocom days), The loco body moulds are probably the K's originals and are worn out. The tender is much more detailed than the original K's one would have been, probably for a new redesigned tender it has an etched chassis or though at the moment we can not find the etch tool ref to be able to order them. Who would be intrested in the Beyer Peacock kit being reintroduced? If we can, we would try to add some extra parts especially some suitable cab detail if we can.
  22. Can you be more specific about the FR 0-6-0 as far as we know we do not have any FR locos in the range, but otherwise orders for those parts for most kits can be accommodated. Some tenders have etched chassis and we may not have those in stock. we do not know the full history of how these kits were mixed and matched with the other ranges but certainly at least some of the GWR tenders do look to have more detail than the K's ones. But as we have not yet produced any kit requiring a tender we can't be sure.
  23. The GWR 2500 Gal tender is the same one as supplied with the ex K's kits for the Dean Goods, the Beyer Peacock and some of the 4-4-0's. However it looks to be a completely new kit from the K's one as it has a lot of detail. It also has a separate etched chassis. It is not the very early one that looks similar to the Armstrong tender that I've seen in some pictures. Hope that helps
  24. We still get lots of people asking for either products formally made by us and also spares for Finecast locos. We can no longer supply any of those parts as they now belong to Squires. Nor do we do any casting for Squires for the South Eastern Finecast range. We can supply almost all castings from the ex Autocom Nucast range, not just parts from the reissued kits. However some of the old moulds are in poor condition so parts may not be up to the standard we would wish. We also stock Romford / Markits and Scale Link wheels. For etched parts it's best to contact Branchlines but we do all the whitemetal casting here at Forest Row.
  25. its £104 + £5 postage. Give us a call on 01342 822270
