  1. I melted so many sleepers trying to get lead free solder to actually run!!!! Gave up in the end , too much devastation caused Why do they even sell this lead free rubbish , it should come with a warning
  2. Hi all I just converted a Jouef loco to dcc, what I thought was successfuly. Now I'm testing it I can see very odd behaviour, the loco runs without sending any commands to it? The cv programming worked successfully and I assigned a running number without any issue. The leds are also not turning on either Anyone got any idea why this might be happening?
  3. If you really really want one then the place I bought mine from is here https://www.hobby-shop.ch/de/Digiset_ICE__Kamera.a71704.2.html
  4. Hi Just bought a Graham Farish steam loco 1816 (Duchess of Hamilton). Looking to convert to DCC , it appears that the tender is suppling the power to the motor , in the cab, via a small cable. Have seen some posts saying a brush isolator would be required ? if the power is coming from the tender why would you need an isolator for the motor ?
  5. So I found the Roco Ice locomotive with built in Camera , works very well Also went to ChooChoo Vision and bought a camera , but yet to get it to work
  6. Yes thnks I had wired the tracks on the TT the wrong way round . Once fixed all working very well, really pleased with the TT
  7. Hi I'm looking to buy a dcc loco pre fitted with a wireless camera but can't find any. I've seen the Roco offerings , no longer made, but they're AC not DCC. Anyone any ideas ?
  8. Thanks both for your replies, looks like the auto reverser is what I need. I'm using the Z21 command station which does put out more than 18v as I've measured the track voltage, up until now the TT has been working OK but perhaps I should reduce the max voltage on the Z21.
  9. Hi I've just installed my first DCC turntable (Walthers 933-2849 90) and I'm getting a short circuit when a locos wheels are across the feed track and the bridge. If I run the loco fast enough it doesn't register but then the loco goes off the other end of the bridge. I'm assuming there's some kind of magic electronic board that can fix this, can anyone advise please ? Was also wondering if the TT could be powered via one of the occupancy detector outputs In order to see the loco detected on the bridge via Railcom ? Thanks Chris
  10. Hi all I've been looking to get my ancient TT to work on an automated layout but am just about on the verge of giving up and investing in a Walthers/ Heljan one instead. Has anyone had experience of using this TT with Rocrail ?
  11. Yes thanks for all the info, decided to buy the replacement trix dc motor and bogie (x 2) for the upgrade , not too expensive at €19 euros a pop
  12. So my plan is to replace all wheels with isolating ones , fit pickups as required , disconnect the 3rd pickup, and put dcc decoder in and wire up , including lights hopefully. Can you recommended which decoder(s) would work with the AC 3-pole-DCM motors
  13. Ok thnks , nice tip , not sure about the motor I'm assuming from your question that it may be an AC motor, Supposedly the Loco can operate in DC or DCC so possible already fitted with a decoder
  14. I really wanted a good looking Amtrak loco so bought a Marklin 33621 , forgot it was a 3 rail system. i've done a lot of DCC conversions so am used to disassembling locos. Anyone know if the DC wheel set trick will work on this model ?
  15. Well guys you're right , I opted for Rocrail , which does a good job at displaying the image in the block. It can also display the loco ID not sure it it can at the same time though., The Rocrail software seems quite flexible, in this area at least. The software , via the loconet feedback from the DR5088's , also detects the loco being removed from a block and placed in another block or just plain removed.
  16. Finally got this all working nicely. It was just a question of setting up the sensors correctly in the blocks.
  17. Hi I have a Hornby TT wired up on my DCC layout , connected to a loco decoder. I have a Z21 command station and am using Rocrail to control everything. The TT works fine , as a loco, but ideally I would like to be able to configure my TT yhrough Rocrail but I don't know how to. Anyone got any ideas?
  18. Hi I've been trying a number of different software solutions to controlling my DCC system and I want to display the loco image in the blocks as it moves around the layout. So far I've tried Rocrail & Itrain 5 neither if which seem to have the required ability. Can anyone recommend a solution that will work for my requirement ? Thanks Chris
