  1. First an apology- I had intended posting some more piccies of layout testing in preparation for this weekend. Unfortunately I missed a couple of club nights because of family commitments and Hyndford was packed away. The layout is assembled in The SEC on stand C18. I hope to meet some RMWebbers over the weekend so don’t forget to say hello.
  2. Some more exercising for stock tonight. The video I took was well down to my usual standard so not worth sharing! So just a couple piccies The repair to the wonky fencing has been disguised by some miraculously quick growing conifers!
  3. A further short update on preparations for Glasgow. The layout has been checked over and a couple of electrical gremlins identified and corrected. We have even had movement, but since it was only a Cl170 power car, I didn’t film it. Last night I looked out the buildings for a health check and really happy with their state. Below is a shot along the platforms with both buildings in place. the fiddle yard entrance is not as noticeable from normal viewing positions, honest! The second shot shows the small box that controls the swing bridge over the canal. Work on the fencing needed!
  4. A little more detail on the model…… Hyndford is on an electrified single line branch. But unlike Lanark it is a through station. We run SPT liveried 3 car EMUs as the basis of the service to Hyndford. These are all Bratchell kits. There will also be class 156,158 & 170 DMUs plus assorted odds and ends as we see fit! The low level lines will see Class 66 & 37 locos on short engineers trains. More updates and pictures will appear after the festive break.
  5. Welcome to Hyndford from Clyde MRC. The layout is entirely fictional although elements are based on real prototypes. Starting with the name. Hyndford bridge crosses the Clyde south of Lanark where our club is based. The station buildings are based on those still in use at Lanark and the aggregate loading facility is based on the one that used to stand at Ravenstruther (pronounced Renstrie) on the WCML also just south of Lanark. The layout has just been taken out of storage to be made ready for Model Rail Scotland in February. Erection of boards!
  6. Wellgate Wagon Works (WWW) is the new layout from Clyde MRC. We wanted a compact layout on which to run 21st century rolling stock, particularly freight. This is quite a problem since the modern railway is dominated by block trains. Hence the wagon works idea. We also recognised that most repairs nowadays are not carried out in specialised works. We took inspiration from the works of Steeles in Hamilton. Our layout is on a larger scale and represents a down at heel urban site. The original intention was for it to make its debut at Modelrail Scotland in 2021 but we all know what happened to that plan! Plan B is to take it to the SEC this year, aunty Nicola permitting. I’ll post the track plan and some photos over the next few days. Here’s hoping I can chat to some RMWebbers then. David
