I don't show up in photographs, have a reflection, or shadow.
That's bad. At least I have a shadow
A most satisfactory sporting day for me. Norwich snatched a 90something minute winner at Bolton and, on a more local note, Oxford won the boat race and the Grand National winner is a Lambourne trained horse

That's a really nice looking layout. I love your loco shed

Very nice pictures. I'd like to see more please

No, but I've got a lot of split logs. That was hard work, and much more relevant than my LI profile...

hey up!
Quick call to read most of todays posts... wot a lot to read!
I believe a seawolf would be ideal or rapier to take out the drones....
Sounds a bit big, what about a blow dart? Or a harpoon gun?

I suppose lassoing drones would be a good challenge

Today a letter has been received (twice) from some bunch at Canary Wharf claiming to be surveyors and talking about next door's planned extension and the Party Wall Act including a contract to sign and return. Seems the 'surveyors' aren't at all bright as the letters were not addressed to the property owners (Mr & Mrs Stationmaster) but to Dr Station Cat - who is duly outraged at not being addressed by her correct title - and that apart the senders clearly haven't bothered to consult any plans or even an OS map to check if the Act applies. Seem like a bunch of chancers with a fancy address for their letter box and a business which is most likely based in Lagos rather than Canary Wharf; the good Doctor is replying to them.
Have a good day one & all
Are you coming upstairs to read it or shall I just post it on here?

Thats interesting. Ithought all their tickets were online.
I know that finding the regional day passes arent easy but if you put a longish journey in (in one region if you want a region lander / pass) and select local trains then it will normally come up as the cheaper option.
I think everything within Germany is available online, but some international stuff isn't. I had to phone them to: book Zagreb-Munich by overnight train (though I think the day trains can be booked online), make a seat reservation from Brussels to Cologne (you can buy tickets online but not seat reservations on their own) and buy a ticket from Ulm to London (which should have been bookable online but wasn't for some unknown reason).

I think that DB Ticketing is easy enough provided you are prepared to do a bit of research before buying. I certainly found their UK call center to be very helpful - but I did know exactly what I wanted. The only real problem I had was some tickets not being available online.

Evening all. We have returned to Ally Pally - nice to see/meet various RM webbers there. I have taken some pics but i'm not sure if they're any good. I was very good and only bought a book.

I think that's still going on some US airlinesA US airline (Delta, I think) used to let you listen in on the radio conversations between crew and controllers. That was before 9/11. Didn't always make for reassuring listening!
And if you want to know what it was like on 9/11http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/499645-listening-channel-9-september-11-2001-a.html

Good news Jock.
Interestingly, Norwegian airlines have just announced that their flights will now be required to have two people in the cockpit at all times.

I too have got lost in Preston.

The local suggestion was Towcester. That's over 50 miles away so I really wouldn't call it local

Well the section of Kelly Bray I am bringing is pasty conformant! The pasties and rhubarb I brought in 2013 is now fixed to the layout. A sort of side line of the Stationmaster's wife (not our module master Mike for clarification!).
Actually that Mrs Stationmaster is very good at both

It suggests I should move to North Lincolnshire though i'd only be marginally ahppier than I am now. Apparently I should avoid Lambeth which sounds like quite a good plan

Agree with you there, Ian. Certainly makes you think about just how quickly life such as you knew it can be over for anyone...
I don't envy both the friends and relatives and the emergency service workers in France and at the airports for the nightmare they now have to deal with.
The crash site is reportedly over 2 hours walk from the nearest road, the recovery services are not going to have an easy time of it. It is also reported that the largest bit of debris is about the same size as a small car.

Plane crash (German WIngs Airbus) near Digne in France
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32030270
Not travelled on them before but very nearly booked a lfight for next week.
I have one booked for the end of May. Oh well, I bet they'll be paying a lot of attention to safety.
Poor sods on the plane, I wonder what happened to it? Very odd thing to happen to a Western European airline

Ahh celebrity encounters. I once threw Noel Gallagher out of my reserved train seat. He was very polite about it. I've also seen Ian Duncan Smith and Nigel Worthington (then manager of Norwich City) on trains. And i'm sure I saw Damian Lewis in Tesco a couple of months ago.
Anyway, onto the slab laying. Or not. The card fraud paperwork has finally arrived from my bank.

St Peter's didn't do much for me. I found it very large, very dark and a rather inhuman presentation of religion. Also far too ostentatious for my tastes. I like the cathedral in Stockholm which is very plain but has the most wonderful statue of St George

You seem to have similar thoughts about airlines to Matthew! It will be interesting to see what he thinks about Air Serbia who he will be using to and from Belgrade soon.
I've heard they're pretty good nowadays. They have improved since being bought by Emirates.
I've never tried Ryanair, Heathrow is our local airport so it's mostly BA for us. I do have Germanwings to sarajevo coming up though

Me and my wife agree 100% with that.
Morning all. Just back from Norwich and heading for Lowestoft on Saturday. I genuinely think that will be the first time I've been out of Norfolk in over a year, even though I'll only be a mile or two into Suffolk. Must get out more... somewhere sunnier with cheap fizzy lager would be nice, I'm easy to please. Might have to give that nice man from Ryanair some money soon.
Enjoy your day.
BA do some very good flight plus hotel deals via their website so it might be worth you having a look - though you would have to go to Heathrow or Gatwick, and you may or may not think Willy Walsh is a nicer man than Michael O'Leary.
Early Risers.
