  1. Hey Graham, yeah, I'm continually wondering what sort I want. There is going to be a stone quarry at the terminus of the branch. Plan for today is to begin experimental work with static grass (just picked up my new static grass applicator last night) and keep forming the mountains. I've also gotten a bit done on the slope down to the mainline.
  2. Try again now or search for GWR Div Tromsø, I found it and viewed it without being logged in
  3. So things has happened, and my 0-6-0 Collett Goods ran it's first freight on the branch two days ago. https://vimeo.com/600689966 / or search Vimeo for GWR Div Tromsø og the link doesn't work More progress to come
  4. Hi all So heavy workload for the past 5 months really killed my modelling. I guess real life catches up eventually. Today I started work on the scenery in the inner most part of my layout. Going with ease and cheap construction I decided to create the mountain from building foam. First layer made and it will now expand and harden over night.
  5. The GWR construction crew got busy once the ballast had settled. The new station has been built. Currently the layout looks like this. Plattform will be extended and a new signal box is due tomorrow.
  6. So today there has been more ballasting done. Almost done, just two points left to fix once I get the last two point motors. Also a new coal depot that just needs some paint to finish.
  7. So this evening crews along with Duck have been preparing a cattle and freight dock. At the same time Oliver came with a mailtrain.
  8. Hey Well, simple fact is that I don't feel like going that deep and weathering the track. I am not that good with details... Patience and such is well, not my strongest suit there
  9. Thanks Mike! Ah, yeah, look at those There is also a Norwegian NSB steamie working in south England too that used to be in service about 50km from where I grew up (though ended service long before I was born)
  10. And since I couldn't resist, here is a couple more
  11. Evenings construction crew reports that the stone plant at the quarry has been set up and will soon be ready for work. A carefull Duck did a good shunting to get the big crane up the branch for the crew and supplied materials with among others a lowmac. Numerous runs were done and a good nights rest will be a welcome.
  12. Thank you for your kind words Mark. Yeah, I hope so. I've never been good at getting the details right, so this is a big experiment on my side. Thomas,
  13. Hi all So work is continueing. This week I manned up to try my hands at ballasting. Found some good instructions on YouTube from "EverardJunction" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGgT0zQg1s4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj04VA4cOo8 I found the first video to be very good. So, here is my attempt. The siding was done using the instruction on the Faller glue bottle. Similar technique to the second video. Here I used two different types of ballast, one type that is suppose to be a lighter color on the siding, and a darker on the shed end. For a first attempt, I think it ended good, but by no means perfect Today I also got a package from Hattons. Less than 48 hours from I ordered til it arrived by DHL in the arctic north. Not bad
  14. Hi John My appologies for my late response. Thank you for the answers, a great inspiration!
  15. I see, then I misunderstood you there. My apologies. You mentioned that GM overlay was different than Hornby, could you elaborate?
  16. Is there anyone who has any Z21 decoders for points and signals they don't need?
  17. Actually Mortimer is in real life Photo found on Wikipedia
  18. Hi John! What sort of alternative couplings have you fitted here? Very good and low key in contrast to the factory delivered ones. Appologies if I've missed a post here. Thomas,
  19. Hey Jason, thank you for your input That box is high on my list too
  20. Hey Jeff Painting is not a problem I've previously used Faller in H0 before I started in 00, and found them to be great in color and details. Hence why I look for a good counter part to that - I guess I should get my feet wet Branchline: Thinking of trying either GM401 Fordhampton or Ratio 504. I also found the Heljan AH4 and Wills SS60 shelters looking quite good, though a bit small. Mainline: GM430 Mortimer and whichever I don't use on the branch maybe, or Oxford Rail / Hornby GWR station. Ah, that is a good point. That also solves my need for getting similar buildings. Cheers Ian
  21. RIght. I would have expected stations and their signal boxes to have the same design for the most part
  22. Well yeah, but the general style seems to be something LNER / LMS / SR didn't really use?
  23. Thanks Jeff I have looked a bit through that site and after reading the book "Modelling the Great Western branchlines" led me to belive stone and slate wasn't GWR's cup of tea. I see I was mistaken I was almost ready to order Gaugemasters "FORDHAMPTON" when I read that the walls are mearly self adheasive overlays. I thought based on the Mortimer model that it would be better realism to it than that. https://www.gaugemasterretail.com/magento/gaugemaster-gm401.html
