And it’s a Rosebud by the looks of things! Would’ve been worth far more if he just left it alone!

Edit: I’m personally a bit mixed on Halden, on one hand he finds a decent use for those static loco models that were in every magazine store in the 2010s, you all know the ones I’m on about, on the other hand, as you said, he butchers perfectly useable locos.

Won’t lie, I’m honestly tempted to buy one of the Triang locos he’s done up, slap a motor into it and see if I can make it run, just for a giggle.

I just tend to call them kit bashing fodder. They might have various useful bits for a cheap enough price even if they have no working chassis.

Actually yeah, let's follow this up with some of the weird and wonderful items gostude has at the time of writing:

Anyone have any suggestions as to where the Electrotren 0-6-0 chassis might be picked up for a reasonable price? Couple of resin/3D bodies I have my eye on need it, but examples on eBay (admittedly complete) are around the £95 mark …

Yes, I now thoroughly regret not grabbing half a dozen when they were on sale for £55, then £65, then £69 but we all know that hindsight is 20:20

And whilst here, a very Happy New Year to all the Pugbashers, Nellieboshers, Desmondifiers and Dr Jintystiens who fill this thread with so much inspiration!

Your Hornby van is actually a fairly accurate model (above the solebars at least) of a Hull & Barnsley Railway refrigerated or ventilated van, so not as generic as you might think! (Mine shown below with a new chassis).

For scribing planks I have found a cheap scraperboard tool to be fantastic - it leaves a really smooth groove.

I've repainted a few as North Eastern refrigerated vans since the NER did buy the H&B in 1921. They are a what if creation.

I am delighted to see these wagons, which I remember as a boy when my grandfather was a coal miner in Northumberland.  I don't know anything about their details and variants though, and I must admit to being a little confused as to the variants being produced.

    Acccording to the email:

This family is made up of the P6, P7, P8 and Q3 variants of these distinctive 20 ton hopper wagons. Four different types, with differences within the range, based on period!

Listed on the site as available to order, 8 products in various liveries, but 5 types P6/7/8 Q3, & DGM

According to the video however, nine EPs. which is what I can count lined up on Rowley platform.

    https://www.accurascale.com/blogs/news/accurascale-hop-to-it-with-ner-20t-coal-wagons-in-oo-4mm

So have you discovered/decided to produce another sub type?  Or is DGM another name for one of the types?

Is this the missing ninth EP, its axleboxes/suspensions look very different, which I don't see as available to order, and is there a problem preventing it coming with the rest of the range?  Or perhaps a business decision to make that part of a second batch ? Sorry for even suggesting a rerun when you've only just announced the first lot, but it's obvious there's scope for this range to run and run like Hattons  4- and 6-wheel coaches!!

I will definitely be ordering some of these, but haven't had time to decide which.  They will look good behind any reasoanbly heavy industrial loco,

But ideally I think I also want a Lambton Hetton & Joicey 0-6-2T if you're looking for ideas for your next project and there's one in preservation you could go and scan ....  https://www.nymr.co.uk/lhjc-0-6-2t-no-29-peggy

I think railway mania are planning a Kit of the 0-6-2s using the chassis off the Bachmann midland 1F

  6. I'm slowly converting this Tri-ang saddle tank into a 0-6-2 colliery tank. Based on an engine used in Wales but also the Lambton tanks. The chassis is from a Bachmann junior Thomas lookalike. All I really need to do is figure out how to mount the new chassis and fit the rear trailing axle.

You could say this is baby's first kitbash as it's my first time doing this kind of work on a model?

An army? That sounds a bit drastic, but thanks for the compliment.

Here is my 'army' of scratch built industrial engines - all with a link to the northeast of England. The prototypes were either built there, were based there or both.

From left to right we have the John Fowler and Chapman & Furneaux engines that worked at Lintz Pit, R&W Hawthorn 'Enterprise', South Durham Malleable No. 5, and Hawthorn Leslie 'Coal Products No. 3'.

I'm rather new to modelling so the idea of scratch building anything is rather intimidating. Luckily I have all of the lovely people on RMweb to help guide me through my first projects. Might have to start on my own batch of industrials.

I haven't done much modelling this year for various reasons, but I've still found a few hours every now and then to try and build something which resembles the old John Fowler locomotive pictured on the previous page. This was an old engine that was based at one of the collieries that my grandfather worked at almost 100 years ago.

This is very much a 'spares box special' and hasn't cost much to make - I think the only things I've bought are the Gibson wheels, High Level gearbox and motor. The rest of it was made from bits of brass and castings that I already had. As a result, the finished model isn't 100% accurate and is more a representation of the real thing. To be honest I was just looking for a quick project to get me back into making stuff rather than something where I was concerned about it being accurate. It has ended up being a bit of a 'freelance' engine, but I'm pleased with how it has turned out, and it runs nicely.

There are a few jobs still to do like finishing off the cylinders, making some brakes etc.
