  1. Much like what’s (probably) going to happen to the massive, listed airship sheds (hangars) at Cardington, which are gradually being totally surrounded by housing. Some of the houses will be in near-perpetual shadow and such is the condition of one of the sheds, during storms some of its pieces have been known to fly off. So won’t be long before they’re deemed to be a safety hazard, too expensive to maintain, an eyesore and generating health conditions due to lack of sunlight!

Didn’t something similar happen to the Stewartby brickworks chimneys which recently came down, even though they were listed too?

Some views taken today of the new bridge near Mursley - taken looking towards Mursley. The first photo shows the old and new bridges. The second wider angle shot shows the original road in the foreground which curved around onto the old bridge, this is now fenced off. The final shot is taken from the old bridge. Although Saturday it was a hive of activity with lots of vehicles buzzing about and workers working

Great shots. What’s going to happen to the old bridge?

If that is just to replace the level crossing, I'll be amazed. It only allows access to the back of the farm, there is another route in adjacent to the bridge over Claydon Brook. The new bridge will be somewhere in this picture from 2018, which still shows the VJ platforms, whose good bricks were reclaimed by GWSR IIRC, taken from the crossing.

New bridge should be just in front of the mast on the left I think, at the end of the platform, which is a bit further than it seems due to the lens used to take the photo.

Great photo, shame the platforms had to go :(

A couple more pictures taken today. Firstly showing the new bridge near Mursley with the walls now looking complete. Secondly a shot showing work on a pipeline behind one of the wall and which will be under the re-routed road once complete

Great pics. Will the existing bridge at Mursley be demolished? If yes, why can’t it be re-used like many of the other bridges in the area?

Speaking as someone who might not quite be a NIMBY, but certainly is shedding a tear for the loss of some landscape that has survived amazing undisturbrd for the past century, I think it’s the best argument I’ve seen yet for a levelling-out of the economy of England.

It’s not just that particular area, but a vast swathe of what might be called ‘southern middle England’ or ‘northern southern England’ that is under massive house-building pressure - I’m genuinely amazed by the rate of house-building right across Northants, as well as in Beds and Bucks - while the northern parts of England are apparently scratching for investment and jobs.

Of course, at another level, I’m quite happy, because it seems to mean that my children are growing-up in boom-town, which ought to mean good job prospects.

I'm originally from the Bedford area but have been up in the North East of England for 30+ years. The rate of house building round here is also amazing. Genuine talk (and some action!) of reopening lines too.
