Hi all - starting this thread to document what will be my first proper layout. I have dabbled in various types of modelling, including RC cars and aircraft kits, but I always wanted a proper model rail layout. I now just about have the space and the time to put something together. It will be a simple end-to-end about 2.7m long and a maximum width of 46cm. So not huge but plenty for me to get started with. The era will be late steam / early diesels, set in a run-down urban industrial setting. Probably a cliche but I find these type of layouts endlessly fascinating. The name of Medburn Road is simply because I used to live on a Medburn St.
Rough track plan as follows - the blue rectangle represents a canal in a cutting with an overbridge for the tracks. Intention is that it disappears into a tunnel in the backscene.
Baseboards are built and test laying track is in progress, I think I need to cut out the canal section next though before I do anything more detailed.
