I have some N gauge OLE catenary portals to prime and having done a little research on the web it seems that brass can be quite difficult to get a good 'key' for subsequent layers of paint (I was hoping to use enamels - Humbrol). Having searched RMWeb I found this: "Painting Bachmann Brass Locos - Advice needed!" but I wondered if the cellulose primer is that currently sold at Halford as 'Primer'. Halfords claim this can be sprayed directly onto metals but I wondered if anyone here has direct experience using this product with brass. I know C & L Finescale do an etch primer but I'm just trying to find an alternative if this is at all possible (otherwise its a second order with C & L with in one week - Ooops). Apparently the 86 may be available towards the end of April now..... just hoping Dapol mean April 2010! I guess we've waited this long, another couple of months won't hurt and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait
