  1. Am i correct in thinking That your using the SPST switch to control the led and the DPDT switch to throw the motor, Also what are the diodes fitted at point X/Z for. John.
  2. Try giving the decoder the CV 8-8 reset just in case it has become corrupted in any way. Its worth a try. John.
  3. Go take a look at the website posting, there to me anyways its pretty obvious it does amps. this is the spec Power – DC or DCC, 5-29V, 10 amps max. Power – AC, 5-20.5V, 7 amps max. https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/alpha-meter-for-dc-or-dcc/ John
  4. Did you ever get to the bottom of the problem ? Regards. John.
  5. NCE. Don`t have any authorised service agent at all in the UK, its been asked but they say its too much hassle on there part , There are a few model shops that do undertake repairs, like we do, but mostly the items end up back in the US. Quite often in our experience the don`t charge for a genuine fault, so all you end up paying is the shop cost.and handling charge. John
  6. Thank you for that information. John
  7. Dont forget. If you increase the supply voltage to the power cab, and it burns out the internal tracks, it wont be covered by any warranty claim. This could be a costly mistake Regards. John.
  8. i use that system ans can run multiple vehicles at the same time,it is PC controlled via, i train. You will need to do some work to the road way to make it work, as it uses induction for communicating with the vehicles. but when you have it set up it works great. John.
  9. Hi Jim Can you please explain how you did it . John.
  10. Just check you have not inadvertently, change the cab address from CAB 2, as if you have it wont work. It will do all the correct things on the screen but thats about it. John.
  11. Good to see you back. wondered what had happened to Holmes Yard John.
  12. Hi Spice 1977 Have you got the problem sorted yet ? The sniffer should work connected to the sniffer port as it does with the ECoS and the Z2, then the Alpha switch plugs straight in to the connector on the sniffer, plus you will need to power the sniffer. The other option is to use Alpha Box on to the track output from your system and connect Alpha switch to this again a power supply is needed. Drop a e-mail to the office where you can get assistance. Regards John.
  13. Sorry been a little busy yes I did mean a triangular junction. John
  14. Wow How time flies I've not been on here for an age, change of job, and generally just getting on with the normal lifestyle things, also my other hobbies. A bit of an update we took the layout out for a test to Bingham in Notts after finishing of the track wiring all worked ok, which was great. Just a few small problems to alter on the control panel, where I numbered from the wrong end on the layout and the other on the panel DOH !!!!. Cant have been that bad, as we came away with the vote for best layout, which came with a nice little trophy. Thanks to Les and the rest of the team there great show. This week in Railway Modeller is a nice article on the building of the main station building. By Howard Leader whom was responsible for a stunning model and to Paul Bason for taking the pictures (Thanks Guys). The building is now fitted and the areas around are now ready to be finished. The control panel is now being constructed smaller this time as the last one was huge. more on that later when I get the pictures sorted. 99% of the control wiring is done and tested again that's another few pages to be sorted at a later time. hope everyone's well. John.
  15. Has any one wired a wye junction for DCC Be interested to see how you've done it. John
  16. A few pictures of the new base boards showing the high density board and the cork bed also the roadway parts.
  17. HI Still about slow progress but were getting there, Glad your happy were back. John
  18. Hi As this year come to an end in the next week or so I thought id better do an update as I've not been on for a while but a lot has ben completed where do we start I guess where we let off well the new boards where built and fitted with the high density boards and then fitted to the metal carrying frames and then joined together to make sure they fitted as planned ( and they did pheww). Then a few changes from last time I have left a small 1 inch area at the back to allow the back scene to be fitted at a later date then the track and platform areas were covered in cork stuck down with contact adhesive up to where the road would be fitted, (Again some thing new) the road way has been made out of 3mm beach ply laser cut to my specification so as it runs where I need it to, this took a lot of time to get right, and also doing the drawing for the cutter, once done and fitted I was happy with the out come,. it was not cheap but will make the next stage of construction a lot faster and easier. Next the track was all laid out then test fitted once we were happy the holes for the points were drilled and the track glued down to the cork bed, the point motors then had to be modified to allow for the extra thickness of the cork and high density board, we changed the metal rods for longer and stronger ones these are all tested as and when fitted, All of the platforms are now fitted and most have tops on, these again are a new thing the all made from laser cut kits and when finished are really good and super light as before they were solid wood and super heavy. platform buildings are now being fitted and the wiring has started also a lot of the station walling is in place again laser cut for weight, the station is coming along nicely as can be seen in the picture, These still more to do to it t finish it like the platform canopy on the rear and all the lighting all of the rooms like on most of the other buildings are populated and can be seen when the lighting is on. that's all for tonight more to follow now I have my modelling mojo back. John.
  19. i has anyone got a laser that will cutout some track sleeper frets john
  20. f i were you id use the traintech dpol signal controller give it the same address as the point it will work all ok connecting the 2 yellow wires to the point motor spare contacts wont work as the need to be shorted every time you want the signal to alter connecting them to the point will make the signal work every other time you change the point and it will be out of sink have a look at the traintech device works a treat for me John
  21. Hi Just a quick one to night Firstly a Happy new year to you all and thank you for following blog A couple of thing happening now and a few shows booked one being Wigan very pleased to have been invited to this show been a few times as a punter had a great time so please come along and see us and have a chat As I said in previous pages I had decided to redo the base boards for various reasons, I now have these made up in dry form and ready to be glue and pinned before being fitted to the stand/trollies. just awaiting the 25mm Styrofoam to come so it can be fitted. The original boards have been removed and stored safely just incase there needed for a show, if I don't get as much completed on the new ones as planned. so were all systems go now so watch this space as they say The station building is progressing well those who attended the Spalding show may have seen Howard who had it on display there, and I understand it was very well received but more progress has been made since then I will update later this week with some pictures. The final running session before we took it apart was at the Digitrains open day just before xmas and was well attended, myself and Carl ran the layout from around 1030am until around 1900pm were it performed faultlessly, we had a great deal of interest in it from the visiting public which was rather nice. We hope to start the rebuild in the next few weeks so if your in Digitrains and were there please say hello and have a chat. That's all for tonight as I sad before ill up date the station build with some picture later this week, Regards John
