A question for those of you who know a lot more about 92's than I do.

I have 92022 on order and I'm wondering what the renaming possibilities are for this version. What i'd like to know please is how many 92's carried the the full RFD livery, and of those that did, did they all have cast nameplates?

    Cheers,

      60800

i think the only options are 92009 Elgar and 92030 Ashford, though I think the RfD logo / lettering locations differed between locos

These are looking really good, looking forward to them. Can anyone share or direct me to some reference photos or videos of the wagons in their original Castle livery?  I’m drawing a blank….! What sort of traction would be suitable for use with them?

I note that no-one has posted pictures of the British Fuels version.  Were they not very popular?  Everyone has just posted Cawoods yellow and the DRS version.

Anyway, I've just received an e-mail saying that mine have been dispatched, so I should have them by the weekend and I'll see what the British Fuels version looks like.

Not sure if you’ve got yours yet Dungrange but you won’t be disappointed

seriously good wagon again from the Accurascale crew. I’m struggling to find anything wrong with them which I guess is testament to the ethos of only producing something once it’s pretty much a true representation in 1:76...... bodes well for all the upcoming projects too.

Thank you all for the replies and thank you Eric for the photos.

I have definitely decided to buy 528 & 957. Just because these two were originally in the heavy haul pool and thus appeared regularly on coal trains in Hunslet Yard and on Leeds Midland Road for maintenance and refuelling etc. I also saw 528 derailed on the entrance to Midland Road depot once on a Saturday morning a few years ago. It was their for hours before it was re-railed. Another interesting thing about 528 is that this is one of the Freightliner 66s that I have seen the most. I also believe that this one has been seen by myself more times than any other Freightliner 66. It's one of the Midland Road regulars if you like. Another reason why I like it.

I also like 418 because alike 504 & 528 it has the large Freightliner lettering on the bodysides. I'm pleased that I sold the Bachmann 416 now because it had the smaller lettering which to me on a large bodyside looks lost and just doesn't look right.

I feel as though I need Freightliner ONE 587 because I have 522 & 623 in their respective special liveries and 587 is only the third ever Freightliner 66 to be adorned in a customer livery/branding. But to go with 587 I would likely want a second intermodal 66, so either 418 or 502 out of the ones I like. 418 is nice because it's a special named Patriot but I also like 502 because it's named Basford Hall Centenary 2001. So really it looks as though I have decided on the first three. Now I could possibly have another two. So really it's either 418 & 502 or the GBRf Royal Scotsman pair.

66528 looks excellent. The livery application and printing looks brilliant too.

    Thanks again.

    Kind Regards,

    Danny.

All the Freightliner 66’s are in a common user pool, there is no specific HH or IM ones anymore

indeed 587 has spent more time doing non Intermodal work since its repaint

Has anyone bought any of the original green and/or powerhaul liveried Freightliner 66s? If so would anyone mind sharing some photos.

I'm really undecided on what to buy in January. I like Freightliner 418, 502, 528, 587 & 957. But I also like GBRf Royal Scotsman 743 & 746. But their is no way that I can afford seven so I do need to narrow down my wishlist a bit more.

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure how a couple of pics will help you decide which ones to pick.

The original green ones are pretty much all the same, very little variation in the fleet save for the headlights but all these are covered in the listings on Hattons own website.

same with powerhaul really, only some slight variations in placement of the logos.

heres 528 for what its worth....

Had my 66’s turn up and must also say that they are very impressive in looks, detail and performance. The only flaw I have with mine, I’ve only had time to test 3 of them at the moment but all 3 (66118, 66433 & 66502) have a rocking/wobbling motion as they trundle along the tracks (66118 suffering worse off) anyone else’s do this? They are extremely quiet therefore nothing is catching to create this motion.

Havent run it yet but have noticed my 66528 does sit evenly in the track.

2 axles are in the air at one side causing it to rock.

not sure if it’s a case of assembly issue as havent had the time to fully investigate

The hattons product page doesnt show 66740 with nameplates, neither do any of the samples. Was it supposed to have any nameplates at all?

    https://www.hattons.co.uk/365830/hattons_originals_h4_66_026_class_66_66740_in_gbrf_europorte_livery_sarah_/stockdetail.aspx

Well the fact the loco is named Sarah, the description on the website says 66740 GBRF Europorte Sarah and the detailed description says etched nameplates where applicable does tend to suggest that the loco should have the plates

Anyone got a picture of 66740?

Mine arrived today but haven’t really got it out the box to have a good look at.

what I did notice, and have contacted Hattons about, is there’s no nameplates fitted and non in the box

if no-one beats me to it will try and post some pics tomorrow

A tranche of Hattons 66 are now on eBay.What was that about getting your order in early ? Cue now for howls of outrage .....hey ho,it’s Christmas.

All very quickly taken down by the looks of it. Perhaps someone hit the upload button a bit too soon.

  11. How do they keep making such basic livery errors?

QC control is pretty poor here / non existant

surely an error as glaring as this should never have got through but now it has how do you fix it?

do we vote with our wallets and not buy any?

hope that Hornby realise the error and recall the batch?

We really shouldn’t have to start trying to amend a livery error on a £160 loco, especially given the chances are the main body colours will be damage by removing the misplaced printing

  12. The Bachmann sides do lend themselves very nicely to being modified.

Below is a WCRC RMB I did last year, plenty of doors and windows filled in. For the windows that need to be removed I left the glazing in place and then filled over the top with conventional model filler, sure it was just generic humbrol stuff, sand back once dry and reapply filler where necessary. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to have a go a cutting a new window out though, possibly best to try on a scrap coach first as suggested.

Nice work eric709. Did notice there seems to be a typo in one of the names "275 railway squdron"  <- should be squadron.

Not sure if that's what the previous few comments were obliquely referring to -- i can't see original post from Chard

    Thank you

I did point out the typo to the supplier when they arrived, a new set would have taken months to produce so just went with what I had ultimately

Yes, Revolution are doing 4 wagons in VTG Blue, 100 of each.  I don't know the status regarding their availability, but, hopefully  in a couple of years, they will do another run of all the liveries for anyone who misses out.

    Regards,

    C.

Yes aware they are doing them now, and duly purchased some

but they were only announced last week or so.

My initial post was based on the fact they was one at DEMU in June, long before it was officially announced

Ive done pretty much every swallow one that the nameplates are available for, some rfd ones too and some ive gone further with and made them in FL grey machines.

buffers do need changing to freight versions on the RfD machines but Bachman’s haven’t made them available yet as far as I know

They are exceptionally easy to rework with the printed livery elements practically falling off, indeed the numbers will come away with just a blunted cocktail stick.

i follow a similar process to James has mentioned but I use t-cut vice thinners.
