  1. I've heard of Duck Under, but this is a Duck Over:

St Annes Park Tunnel on the outskirts of Bristol:

If there is a duck, it's hidden in the trees, but an interesting assortment of current and former junctions:

  2. Another duck was requested. This one is parked next to a branchline.

Wivenhoe to the SE of Colchester:

The next duck needs to avoid those power lines!

    post-4857-0-71949100-1316950312.png

Go one square South and one square East and you'll know exactly where to look.

  3. Seems I accidently posted a 4 squre version at first which is how you saw Ditton....

There's plenty of golf courses around, may take a while....

Probably as many golf courses as ducks??

    Naaaa . . . we wont ducs!

Not a lot of ducks in this area but we are in the vicinity of a New Town which, despite its infancy, has a connection to the Industrial Revolution!

  4. "and my next offering is this one, which may be a little misleading . . ."

...........the power line ending in the middle of nowhere made me think of a disused power station; it's near the old Richborough site:

The duck is back again, to help you find him someone has left a big footprint in the square to the North

  5. Four days and no-one's even tried it yet!

So, first clue. This railway has been closed but runs trains today.

    JE

North-West of Witton-le-Wear on the Weardale Railway (I do like clues that narrow down the search area):

Will post the next one tomorrow.

  6. Rather than post the square immediately below this one (which contains the name of the canal), you can do a little bit of work.....

The City that the canal is named after has a nameplate from 46240 displayed at its station.

Follow the canal in the correct direction and you'll find this lonely duck.

  7. If I said what the cycleway used to be I'd give the game away. Pun intended.

This is the next square to the east.

    post-7483-0-51045600-1315128449.png

    It's Rugby station:

Another duck that likes to watch mainline trains:

  8. I blinked yesterday and totally missed Bishopton!

We're currently between Adisham and Bekesbourne on the Canterbury - Dover line (thanks for the clue, found it on the second line I checked):

The duck is watching a mainline express but if you follow the line towards the pub, you may end up in a row.

  9. SW of Willington between Derby and Burton:

    Another duck!

    post-4857-0-82813900-1312908307_thumb.png

At the end of this line you might buy some rock and sit on the pier but it's not the main line to this destination.

  10. I think you've killed this off, I for one can't find it!

    Jeff

Sorry I couldn't post another clue but my internet connection has had a mind of its own for the last 24 hours

It's Pontyclun in S Wales. The branch goes to the royal mint at Llantrisant.

    post-7483-0-76184700-1312733746_thumb.png

Graham - Well done, connection willing will try to find yours

  11. The line running SE to NW is a mainline, the branch is disused according to my rail atlas but I suspect it once had connections to a unique mint.

Here is the square immediately to the North:

A mainline but perhaps the curve will make the overall direction less obvious?

If you need a clue, the next station in the up direction (which no longer exists) suggests a footballing fish!

  13. Between Wantage & Swindon in the "Vale of White"

The two footpath stubs were once a railway that crossed a very frequently photographed bridge where "summer came the soonest"

  14. Hi Belgian

Although my instructions were from the desktop (running XP), they also work on my laptop (running Windows7):

When you right-click on the square you get a variety of options - just choose "Save picture as" and in both OS it opens a window to (what it thinks is) the default location eg "Pictures" or "Documents" or whatever. If this isn't the folder you would like to use, I assume you know how to change it.

As Martin said, the filename will look odd but should already have "PNG" selected as the filetype.

    Mike

  15. I've found it, but how the hell do I copy it from the OS map site???!!

    JE

I don't know about the OS site but I use http://www.fonant.com/osmap.html

If you right click on the square (at 1:50k view), you can then save as a "png" file which is easily attached to your post. NB this will give you four squares, though the position of your "clicked on" square does vary in the four saved.

To post a new square follow the same procedure but this time increase the magnification of the map by one step before right-clicking - that way you only save one square and not four.
