Lights went out at midnight again and on again at five. I don't recall being told about this and neither do my neighbours, typical Basildon District Council. There must have been a notice, probably on a notice board at the back of the council offices where few people go.
Phil,
Looking at the Brentwood Gazette, Brentwood streets are due to be blacked out from midnight to 5am from next month, as part of the County Councils plan to save money. Like you, we have had no communication from the Council, but the local rags have been covering the issue for a mumber of weeks.

Bright and sunny here in Hutton. The gas boiler has just passed the annual inspection; hopefully I will get the same verdict when I have my annual MOT/medication check with the GP this afternoon!

I was a victim of the same farce. Earlier this year, I went into my local bank (25 years at the branch) to pay off the mortgage. The money was in my account, but they wouldn't process the payment to C&G who were(are) part of the Lloyds group I bank with, until I went home and got my driving licence (which isn't one of the new photocard types) to prove who I was. Guess who no longer banks with Lloyds?

Morning all; nice sunny day here in Shenfield. Car has been dropped off at garage for annual service/MOT. Plans for a days modelling have been disrupted by SWMBO managing to break one of the taps on the bathroom basin. Replacement purchased yesterday evening, so a day of fiddling around behind and under the basin to fit it. Stopping for coffee before I start.
