Another excellent write-up, thank you!
The class 120.1 always seem to elude me when photographing German trains. Anything IC always seems to have a 101 on it!
-
Very much so. It was fabulous to see them again in Koblenz last month. They have such presence!
I haven't seen any photos of 103 222 in its new livery yet. It's a nice livery on the 139's (or are they 140's?) should look very good on the 103.

An excellent write up. Thanks for taking the time. Being an N scale modeller I'm looking forward to the new Fleischmann model of the long cab 103 due at the end of the year. Now could we have a new version of the short cab too please?
I was lucky enough to see 103 113 and 103 235 in Koblenz last month working IC118/119. I hope 103 235 survives the expiry of her revision, would be a shame to see her go. Really must get round to posting the photos on RMweb.

Thanks for the detailed write-up. Very interesting.
I'd love an N gauge version of a 140 in the Sunrail livery but sadly Fleischmann haven't yet produced an "early" 140 with the single type headlights. The 141 has been produced with both single and double style light clusters though so hopefully one day.......

Nice catch of the 421 and especially the 156. I'm very tempted by Arnolds recently released N gauge model of the 156.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing.
145 001 shows one of the things I like about German railways. The fact equipment doesn't just seem to be thranshed into the ground and thrown away. Locos tend to get proper overhauls when required!
Looking forward to a trip to Berlin next month - can't wait to break out the camera.
-
Nice to see a Br110 (115) still surviving. Good shots too.
-
Thanks for the quick reply. Good to gain a bit more knowledge!
I rather miss the 420's around Munich these days, they were always such a feature. The 425's just seem a little too "plastic" if you know what I mean?
I model in "N" and Kato do very nice models of both the 425 and 426. I really must get "Bayern" versions of each before they all sell out.
-
Looks like you had lots of fun there.
Stupid question maybe but whats' the difference between a class 423 and a class 425? I know the class 426 is a two car version of a 425.
Keep the updates coming, good to see a part of Germany I don't really know.
-
Shame they're are all out of service. I always rather liked these locos, a sort of link between the old and new generations of German locos.
Thanks for the answer.

Interesting to see a production series 120 being used for testing. Do you know if any of the prototype 120 series (120 001 - 120 005) are still active?
-
It does look as though in the steel verus aluminium battle the steel (from the truck presumably) won!
As mentioned above, I fair degree on luck involved there.
-
Nice review. But ouch the cab on the DBmq776 looks like a total after thought! Asthetic design wasn't top of the brief with that one. A former DR design I guess?
Never ceases to amaze me how many different designs of double deck stock there are in Germany. I'm most familiar with the
Munich, Landshut, Muhldorf and Passau areas on Germany (I have family there) and the driving cars in use there are different again.

Any more progress on the Western Dan? Would love to see how it's coming along.
