  1. Would anyone please know if you can replace an 00 gauge Bachmann 3 pole motor with a 5 pole one , this being a Crab ?
  2. Does anyone know if these new Moguls have metal bodies or plastic ?
  3. I asked if there was going to be a 10th edition, i was told there was no proposal to do one I suppose if they carried on with them it would lead to more n more volumes . It is 2 now
  4. It might be an idea to wait till some final product is near completion before we all go on about what is n what isnt.It might be in due course someone else comes up with something else.I think we all know technology today moves apace.Who knows what tomorrow brings let alone next month next year
  5. Let me know if you want anymore Lima.I have quite a bit david
  6. Tha manual is an issue.the main thing seems to be the software.so what some of you are saying is you dont need the manual good on you, what about the newbys that want to buy British they also dont need 1.even for driving a car mmmm.I think some of you are missing the point. You are willing to pay £470 for something thats come as incomplete N may in due course fail due to unresolved software problems. Now wehere is that review on the 611 ??.Ah no 1s done 1.Will i be upgrading my 511 ?.Well when it does get around to be properly reviewed like the Roco Z21 n if it passes that test YES i will.after all theres not many things you can nowadays say is truely British
  7. Matbe you can enlighten us all to the positives of the New ZTC 611.I think we would all be enlightened to a British product that is fit for the purpose. So i a British product is brought on the market thats not been tested thats not got a relevent instruction manual. That is in fact using buyers as guinea pigs,we should all be in the thros of that eureka moment. If thats the way you feel fair play to you.Myself i would rather go along with a tried n tested item that is fit for purpose.I suppose it never crosses your mind when you buy anything all the tests they go through before you can actually buy it.But there ago you just take it for granted. In last months BRM mag Andy York wote a great piece about the Roco Z21,now compare this to a writeup on the ZTC 611.I just wonder if you own any of the older ZTC products ??.If you are buying a car would you go for a reliable 1 a bucket on wheels Or take pot luck ?
  8. I think its a shame that once again a British product has been given to the public without the proper backing in place,im not into the ins n outs of this product but i think more should have been put into place before its introduction, customer testing. Its a appears silly to think you can sell something in todays world without even the instructions of how you get to work it.I do have the ZTC 511,why because i believed in buying British also the point motors + the decoders, the problem being the customer service was to say the least crap.I found the decoder very good they are still going, the Point motors not so the 511 well its in a drawer. I cannot see any advantage of introducing any product without the relevent testing. You might get the initial good will buyers but that will die out as the negative points are found.I for 1 would love to believe a British product will take the DCC world by storm .Technology is nowadays short lived.we have seen on other threads how the new Bachmann system has been vilified, yet its not even off the ground. The 611 system in not cheap. So does anyone know why.Whats it got going for it that cannot be bought from another system.I also assume for the price you get bells whistles braces n inbuilt technology for the tomorrows add ons.I may seem a tad sceptical well after the 511 i will leave it to the thousands of 511 happy customers to answer that. You may think that but i can not possibly comment
  9. If the technology is available n the will of the modellers are with it anything is possible. Its a know fact that be dont like change but like it or not if the will is there it will happen.DCC itself is a common 1.Remember when railways (in the flesh) appeared o my the devil had awoken spitting out fire there was going to be some awefull retrebutions.Well we are still here. Why dont we embrace everything until such time as the powers that be give us a proper review into any new system be it blue tooth black tooth or whatever. No one on here is in a position to judge something they know little or nothing of.Lets have a little patience it might be that we can see a new way of running our layouts that will be easier on the eye the hands n the pocket
  10. Hey i dont understand all the negativity about this its not even had the chance to be evaluated. Are we the same nation that has given so much new technology to the world.Bachmann has done a lot for modellers world wide.Lets just see now far this new idea takes us.We can then evaluate it in a proper manner
  11. We should all be saluting new technology. The chip now like it or not rules all of our lives. So putting 1 into a loco or on the next rung of the ladder another technology takes over,so what .Just think of how far so far we have come from the caves in such a small space of time.Technology can benefit everyone, except the 1s that refuse to use it
  12. Does anyone remember what life was like before the Mobile phone?.Look at what they do now,the same will be said about DCC.We all have choices if you dont want the New technologies you get left behind,me im all for them. Its great to think someone wants to further our hobby but if hobbyists want to stay with their Triang of Wrenn locos so be it they still are able to run them.If its a way of bringing more people into our hobby we should embrace it
  13. So where are the new components for the 611 being produced ? David
  14. whereabout in Dudley was the Pub ,I lived there in the 1970s.most have now gone or been turned in clubs. The best beer was a Bathams put the Lamp tavern,by Queens cross,What a pint that is.Think its still going
  15. The reason i use 1/8" is that i can lay thin double sided foam tape, this then acts as the cess + as its 1/8" cork the tape rises to the correct level,I will then be using various ideas like static grass + earth colours to build up a scene beyond the track.have go at the track laying i think you will ,with a bit of practice get a bit of joy when ballasting, instead of the O No syndrome david
  16. Yes im the same dont like ballasting. So devised a way to ballast.First you lay your track then put as big a piece of cork that you can,i use 1/8" then you can cut or mark it with a pencil/pen.I then treat all that cork with undiluted PVA put it under the track pin it down then put the ballast on the top.Pushing the centre vallast down with fingers.Leave overnight then vacuuum the loose ballast.for the point i do them individually as you can treat the cork to areas that you want to.It takes some practise, like all things but the end results are as good if not better than the old ways.which like yourself i hated doing.1 thing to note gat the consistancy correct when you are gluing the cork.I started off on small track/cork.when i had the confidence i moved straight onto 3m pieces even curved Peco ns Streamline.the 1 thing its a bit messy but has saved me hours n hours of mundane ballasting.have a go see what you think david
  17. Hello i say this to most modellers it always a god idea (if Possible)to join a club as you can talk over your concerns to someone who can actually see your problem 1st hand.In regards to decoders the basic ones are not going to give the flexibility that more expensive ones will.If you like to rearrange CVs these are the kind of decoders you will want.Ive said many times though there is no tables you can read up on as to which decoder is the best or most reliable or what motor it can be the best with.Personally i use Zimos,TCSs because they are easy to fit stay alive modules + ESUs but the top of the range 1s.as you have found out it cab be a bit of a lottery ive been through it myself. All we really need is for someone to come up with i list of all of them with some sort of a table. At least then we could have some idea of which does what.Want a rundown of a loco its all there down to the rivets
  18. The Crooked house,ah yes the only pub i know that you feel drunk before you have a drink,n after a few jars the world feels right again
  19. Its great to have people still enjoying the NEC shows, theres a great article in Decembers Railway Modeller Pages 986/97 about the future of this show. Its written by the show manager Paul Jones who with a team of fantastic organisers put on this with virtually faultless precision year upon year .I have enjoyed over many years the going to n helping with it.How long it can be sustained?,hopefully for a long time.It all boils down to the clubs members n family members n friends who all help in its running, none are getting any younger.I suppose like all clubs it the matter of trying to recruit younger members which is a very hard task in itself. Please try to read the article mentioned it gives a good overview of Warley MRC
  20. Al your questions n answers are from threads ive listed on various topics,in that there is no information anywhere on anything thats DCC things like the best decoder, what the best value decoder, what the best decoder to run with RTR models.Who produces the best DCC set,If a wh atto upgrade a DCC system can i ?.Questions like mine are all over yes none can give a definitive answer to any .We all have our opinions buy with all due respect they are not by n large professional 1s,professionals tend not to be involved in these topics.even ask the shops that sell them a lot dont even know the answers.Ive even asked the manufacturers what the difference is between their products n anothers. The reply Dont Know.Yes the answers in the realms of DCC products are as clear as mud
