37372 is the current host of the engine and I think this is likely to be one used as the donor...
I was reffering to the 37 in the article as they are a minefield.
-
Supaned, Tornado was built out of brand new components. This is been built from comonents already there.
-
There's a Monty Wells article in the May/June 1983 Railway Modeller that explains all of the necessary modifications!
But which 37?
-
So basically, they want to take a gas axe to a 37 then bolt together parts of it and stick on other bogies? If we did that in the modelling world, we would be branding nut jobs! However this is a unique project and proper ambitious. I like the idea of this as its not just another cl37 restoration.

Fort William used to keep a class 20 around as a “supper shunterâ€.
Gary
Oh where to begin with that one ! I'm sure I've seen a pic of a CL 20 at the BSW sidings mostly likely with a rake of OTAs. I'm sure somewhere like Caolisport would have a shunter of sorts. Then theres this: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/18869-location-identification-please/page__p__182024entry182024

The brake van appears to be quite short. The only one I can think of is the NER V4: http://www.jimmcgeown.com/Wagon%20Kit%20Pages/NER%2010%20Ton%20Brake%20Van%20Dia%20V4.html. Most of which were un-fitted.

Curse you Hugh for creating a fabulous little layout in a short space of time . Seriously, that 24 and typical brewery buildings look amazing. I take it the buildings are scratch built?
-
Glasgow and Edinburgh style tenements please
Wi' mithers chucking 'oot pieces, aye?
How about a bonded warehouse?
-
Buildings could be a good 'water tester'. Imagine for example the signal box at Boness or Boat of Garten in model form.
Dave.
Make it the Boat South Box, I'm attempting the North Box . Using Highland buildings, those at Carr-bridge are compactish. Whether the Strathspey would go for it or not is difficult to say as they are fairly un-predictable. Also, the Strathspey is finacially committed to a number of big projects (Grantown, 46512s overhaul, etc).

Indeed, the Southern Beyer Garrett is on my list.
What about these Western beauties?:

I have been looking into a couple of 2-6-0s for "Isla Street" similar to the MSWJR but less "Swindony".

Nice to see it represented. I could do anything along the Speyside line as I live at the bottom end of it. Cromdale might be my next layout (BR blue with no passenger service and the little distillery "pug" still going um... strong).
-
Last year the 439 was WAY down the list. Its a small victory, but a victory all the same.
-
Lime might have been used in cases of food transport and washed out before it returned to normal service.
-
That brocolli traffic was also a feature of a BTP film on the delicate nature of keeping trains running across all the regions and how holes in loco requirements are filled.
-
If the strathspey is approached, Bachmann will probably be more open in some ways as they are a Bachmann dealer thus have the sales channel required. Would it be prudent to fire off a letter to one of the boards (company or association)?
-
Well, Stuart's letter is in this months HM. The pic (ooh get you) is of a 439 at Kyle and looks rather charming.
-
To raise the profile of scot railways, whats needed is a couple of top-notch layouts at exhibitions down south. Annan Road and maybe something up my end of the world. Dava is to appear at London and I worry as it was in a sorry when I saw it last summer.
-
There is a third variant tht was similar to the ex-OCA but without the un-parrallel top.
-
Claggy, nuke trains brought some interesting locos (and barrier wagons) over the years. If Caolisport had a nuke sub base, you could get away with at least one saloon carrying armed guards (the most appropiate been available from DCkits/ Brittania pacific). It is a mixed medium (plastic, brass and resin) though doesnt appear to be too difficult. For locos, you could expect 20s, 37s and 47s (double heading). I assume your are looking at a couple of rakes of OTAs as well?

Don't worry 'Chard, I think Phil was drinking last night...!
Dave.
I know I was. B)
-
Phil, I think 'chard was TTP.

Mike, wonderful layout. Since you mentioned that Caolisport was a HR line, I've decided to use this as the terminus on a line from Perth that my layout is joining onto somewhere. Where did the cottage come from?
-
I was going to quote what the guy at Bachmann said, but Gus beat me too it. Where does this leave us standing? If 00 Works was approached, we may be onto something here. Otherwise, this poll is dead in the water.

Not sure what happened to these, the film must have been damaged (Kodak Porta 160 NC (expired I think):
