I live near Aberdeen and have spent a lot of time up and down on the train to Dundee etc - looking forward to seeing your progress.
Great work so far. Looks like an interesting trackplan

Don’t really see why anyone needed to comment at all. Just people having a poke for no reason.
Not constructive, not welcome, if you aren’t adding to a post then why bother?

Have now got hold of some (at a great price) - thanks for all the input

As would anyone, but many sellers inflate prices on eBay to counter the 10% fees etc. Hence the post here.

Thanks

Didn’t realise this would turn into a discussion.
Either you have them and want to sell, or don’t any other comments are not required.

Unfortunately I’m only looking for the models not observations.
I’m willing to pay a fair price but not over inflated ones. We all know how silly prices can get on there
Thanks

Looking for the Bachmann Mk1s produced for modelzone
39-000K BR Parcels
39-000L GUVs

Looks like a great model, much improved on the older casting.
My next problem is how to apply the livery I want but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Appreciate all the input

Going off topic slightly, I've always found it interesting that the booted/saloon versions of small/midsized cars were far more popular in mainland Europe than here
It’s a strange one. I always loved the Orion, a great looking car.

They do come with wheels, I’m not sure how they will look.
As for glazing, some Krystal kleer might work but I’m not sure how much use it would be for a windscreen. Would need a bit more research.
The postage is quite high so I’d probably order a few at once. Quite good that you can get different levels of finish as well, but go for the top finish you’re looking at £30

Have a look on page 2 of the Road Vehicles forums and you should find one called 'Ford Escort MK2 Cortina MK4 etc Available in OO'. There is a link in here that takes you to Shapeways 3D stuff and a supplier called Digitawn. They do 3D models of both types of van shown in the photo you found on Flickr.
Andy
Hi Andy,
Exactly what I was after. Here’s the link for anyone who’s interested.

Springside did do a kit version of the 1981 Escort van (like that but with the original front), though it isn't the greatest of models.
The right hand van is an Escort again, same generation as the one in the middle (and in the first posting) but is based directly on the 2-door estate - in effect a competitor to the estate car based Bedford Astravan (though less successful). Again Springside did a kit for the 1981 estate, but you'd need to fill the side windows and omit the rear seats and update the front if you want the 1986 version. Same provisos regarding the kit - not easy and not that good.
The Orion was a saloon version of the Escort. The name wasn't used on any other body types.
There was a Fiesta van - basically the hatch without the back windows and seats.
Thanks for that info. I did think it was too long to be a fiesta so that explains that. I’ve never seen one like that.
The photos are borrowed from Flickr where I end up spending quite a while browsing some days

I wonder if anyone will come up with a body to fit on a (lengthened) Oxford Escort XR3 floor pan. And likewise a VW Caddy pick-up from the Oxford VW Golf.
That would work quite well. Perhaps one of the 3D printing experts could get that made?
I have been looking for various other types and came across this photo of a Fiesta van which would be interesting and fairly easy to recreate with an Oxford model.
Ryan
Edit - on second thoughts it looks more like an Orion or something, I’m not actually sure.

Thanks for those suggestions. Some great looking models. The escort van was so common I’m surprised no one has made one yet. I’m sure Oxford will do one eventually.
I particularly like the Sherpa, always a favourite of mine.

I have a copy of the ‘Mailvan Handbook’ which is actually quite interesting!
Unfortunately this is all I can find out regarding the Seddons. There isn’t a big section on different styles of trailer. It may have been a one off, as many times vehicles were customised for the locations they were used in.
Hope its of some use

Glad someone bumped up the thread, great to catch up on all the work that’s been done since I last saw the layout over 4 years ago.
You have an amazing talent for reproducing the little every day things that make it so realistic. The amount of work that everyone has put into the layout is mind boggling. It’s one of those benchmark layouts that I’m unashamedly going to steal ideas and inspiration from
Looking forward to seeing more. Keep up the good work
