  1. I have recently acquired a number of slides off E Bay described as originals , they are in the correct Kodachrome card mounts imprinted with the relevant processing dates for the image portrayed but either taken with an inferior camera or are possibly duplicates. Against the duplicate theory is that there are a vast number still unsold where the subject matter wasn't worth the trouble and expense of duplicating. The majority have no subject details etc but I have managed to identify them. I think this one is Borthwick Bank Box with a Brittania on a down goods. Date looks like Sept 65. Can anyone confirm and does the image ring any bells as to the photographer.

Assistance sought, I want to find a ready made model house that is something like the one in Ernie Brack's picture below (and shown with Ernie's kind permission). I have looked around, particularly at continental models in HO but have not got close to anything that I like. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It doesn't help you finding a model of the house although I think Bachmann do a Lynton & Barnstaple Woody Bay station model which looks very similar. The house by the viaduct is to the same design as this building perched on a hill

overlooking the C&O west of the village and its name is/was something like Allt Chaorain House hotel. Rodger the Hotel owner in 1988 told me that his property was built by the original owner as his 'Country House and the house by the viaduct was his 'Town House' The country house had been extended at a later date (possibly by Rodger) following the same style. Over 30 years since I've been there now!

  3. I've just added 3 views of ex HR Clan Goods 57955 at Kyle of Lochalsh 22 Apr 1952 to Flickr:

One of my favourite locos! I had a couple of built Jidenco  00 etched brass kits probably 30 years ago one with the straight splasher as 57955 and one with the split splashers (straight over the first 2 drivers and curved over the last )

They ran like a "bag of spanners"!

    Wish I still had them

Now must get back to scanning/cleaning ; Callender & Oban today.

  4. I acquired 9 Lots totalling some 900+ negatives at the Auction which I have just started scanning as it took some time for them to be boxed up and posted and I have also been away at various Gala's. All will eventually appear on my Flickr site:

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/

Areas covered, Isle of Wight (Bembridge & St Helens on Flickr) GNRI Fermanagh, Sligo Leitrim & Northern Counties, Waterford & Tramore, Cork - Clonakilty, Waterford-Limerick Junction, Callender & Oban, Fort William -Mallaig. Kyle of Lochalsh, The Mound, Dornoch branch. Polmadie , Eastfield. Carlisle sheds , Cumbria WCML to Oxenholme, some Settle & Carlisle. Isle of Man 1950.

Some of the negs need a lot of cleaning up whilst others are basically sound.

Half the Collection was auctioned last month with the remainder being auctioned next year sometime.

This lot should keep me busy for the Winter.

I like the way that the weather closes in as you get closer to Carlisle!

and C14434 - is the lettering on the side  'TW Pacer' ?

DRS taking no chances with Carlisle weather although they may have mis-understood the current phrase being 'bandied' about - "A Hard winter coming post-brexit" This pair passed through Haltwhistle a couple of hours ago!

  6. Whilst nowadays my Archive tends to concentrate on the UK and Ireland there is some Swiss material and with the up-grading of Flickr to cover videos up to 10 minutes long I have been working on up-loading bits from my  200 hours of video taken between 1998 and 2009. I have today up-loaded Huntwangen-Wil which covers action there during October 2009.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/32804634797/in/dateposted-public/         The Huntwangen-Wil album https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/albums/72157687299909045  contains some 460+ photos covering the station ,gravel pits and the impressive viaduct over the Rhine.

Makes a change from the Alps but if you prefer the mountains there are several albums covering the Gottard route; click on this link to see what albums are in the Swiss Collection https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/collections/72157705396264381/
