  1. Thanks for the advise, I will try altering the spring to start with. How many turns of the spring do you remove Jay? Richard
  2. I'm rather late joining this thread, so apologies in advance if this has already come up. I pre ordered and purchased the A3 Flying Scotsman when it first became available. However the locomotive was not removed from the box until 25th December (Christmas present from wife!) Beautiful locomotive , looks fantastic. Have spent ages trying to get it to run smoothly with a Loksound 5L decoder and it's now just about OK. Just need to work on the sound chufs, If anyone has advise on good working CV's it would be much appreciated. My biggest problem is the rear bogie. It does not like going over my points, which are numerous, it's jumping off the track at regular intervals. This is really annoying, my other locos are all fine with it, including a Duchess which also has a rear bogie, but it behaves absolutely fine. I did phone Hattons last week, but was asked to email them with the problem, I did that but as yet no response. Any helpful suggestions much appreciated! Richard
  3. Hi Will Not quite sure what you mean by "what the output of theDS64's is? I run them on a 12 volt supply as recommended and the tortoise motors run perfectly, certainly much quicker than a DR4018. But you need 2 DS64's to do the same as a DR4018! I don't think you can use less than 12 volts with the DR4018. Have to say for tortoise motors DS64's seem hard to beat. Richard
  4. Feel fairly confident CV47 is set correctly but will re check. I have used the programmer in the DR5000 with loco address set to 9999. I find any slight buz unacceptable, made worse with 8 tortoise motors in the same area. I intend to put back two Digitrax DS64's and use thr DR4018 to switch lighting or signals. Richard
  5. If you check the DR4018 manual you will see the recommended minimum voltage for the DR4018 is 12 volts. Can only assume it may not function correctly on 9 volts. No idea what output voltage this translates to at the tortoise end. I am going to connect some more up and hope for the best! Richard
  6. Yes, I am using the DR4101's. I have reduced the voltage to 12 volts, this slows down the tortoise motion, which probably doesn't matter. There is still a small buzz, not quite as loud so the situation is improved. However, is this a satisfactory situation and will any damage be done to the tortoises? Richard
  7. I am hoping someone has experience of using the DR4018. I am just setting up my first turnout motor with the DR4018. It works fine but when not moving (presumably stalled) it is buzzing! I have set CV 47 to a value of 6 and using a 15 volt power supply. Thanks Richard
  8. Hi I was just wondering if anyone knew if Railcom was transmitted successfully over a wireless DCC system that utilised Tam Valley depot DRS1 receiver/transmitter? ie Dead rails. I have to say battery power with this system works very well, my rails are not dead as I use computer software for detection (Traincontroller) but the one locomotive I have converted runs very smoothly, no dirty rail and pickup problems. Richard
  9. Only just received this lovely loco. Has anyone fitted Kadee couplings? If so was much of a job? Thanks Richard
  10. Thank you Dutch Master. I will have a look at it. Fortunately my wife speaks German so if I talk to her nicely she will translate for me!
  11. Hi Dutch Master I'm reasonably ok with IP addresses etc, so would feel confident to try with comprehensive instructions. Also if anything went wrong could I not reset the Z21 to factory default settings to get me out of a mess? Richard
  12. Hi all Have been reading this topic with interest for some time ,but not sure if this has been covered before. I really want to use my own router with the Z21, so that I have full access to my network on the pc I am using for Traincontroller. My router is a BT Home Hub 3. I think my terminology is correct in saying it is on a different subnet to the TP-Link one. To access the Home Hub 3 you put 192.168.1.254 into the browser. (I don't want to replace the "1" with a zero and muck up my existing network) Any help on if this can be achieved and the correct order of doing things would be appreciated. Richard
  13. Hi I have been reading this topic with great interest and hope one of you Z21 experts can give me some answers! At the moment I am using Digitrax DCS200, BDL168's for detection, DS64 and CML for points , PM42's for current overload. Also Traincontroller software. O gauge layout, perhaps 5 train running at once. I would very much like to upgrade to a Z21 and use RailCom for train identification. I would need to continue to use all of the devices on loconet but am unclear as to whether they will work. I gather from previous posts that I can't utilise the DCS200 and use Railcom. Thanks in anticipation! Richard
