I received my 47004 yesterday and I have compared it with the other grey 47 I have which is 47231, the former 47209.
47004 has really thick yellow paint taking away the sharpness of the detail but still a nice loco, I don't think there was much wrong with the previous bodyshell apart from the surprised look of the number one end marker lights. The chassis is a vast improvement though.

Has anyone received notification of their Rails of Sheffield Class 47 starting its journey to them? Having pre-ordered a lovely two-tone green model I'm casting envious glances at all those who already have theirs.
Yes, I could ask them. But I'm sure that the last thing they need is a lot of "are they there yet" chasers.
I've haven't heard anything from Rails so far, I have a 47004 on preorder. I am beginning to think it will be after christmas now.

It seems that this seller has had his ebay account suspended, not sure if this transaction had anything to do with it but there you go.

This bloke surely isn't an enthusiast, he looks a typical sell anything dealer? Look at his stuff for sale. No returns accepted!
I'd avoid! However, it is up to you isn't it?

A quick search into google will show that this is to be released by Bachmann.
A link to it on their site from said Google search brings you to this:
https://www.Bachmann.co.uk/product/class-47-7-47711-'greyfriars-bobby'-br-blue-(large-logo)/31-665
Add that its all on ebay, (which means there is a way to dispute a scam and thus people will be much less likely to do it as it will cost them to put the product/sale right) - gives you some protection as well if you were interested in the sale.
All looks good to me.Ok I would be interested but the guys feedback has put me off to be honest.

Hi everyone, a Bachmann 47711 has appeared on ebay this morning, I haven't been keeping up with releases but am I to believe this is quite dodgy?

Looks like the 25s are in stock at Olivia's.
Lots of pictures there, 25155 has interesting weathering.

The body looks like the later cut down cab version with additional bodywork pieces attached to backdate it...all very strange. As I have mentioned before Lima had the correct idea by having the buffer beam cowling and body as 1 piece, the gap on this and the Bachmann 47 always catches my eye.

Because all of those are far, far more expensive and risky options than piggy-backing off Heljan's 47 tooling.
I would expect a class 104 would fly off the shelves, think of the liveries, nse, mexican bean, all over blue, all over blue with white stripes, all over blue with white cab roofs, blue and grey, various greensnd the Ken Dodd special livery. Maybe a limited edition Manchester Victoria set complete with a figure of a fitter holding a watering can. Happy days!

Likewise.
A screw is all you need!
Mike.
That is until you realise that the thread has failed on the cab inserts and the front droops down and the additional brake parts catch the buffer beam on curves. The Bachmann class 47 is a nice loco but horribly designed regarding the body fitment. Lima got it spot on with the buffers holding the chassis and body together.

Rails now changed to 27033 so that's clear now.
Weathering on the front ends of 27030 is a bit naff I'm afraid.
It doesn't look too bad, not perfect I agree but I'm so glad it is weathered as I have it on preorder from Rails and £110 inc postage is a really decent price.

I am hoping for a Scottish 47/4 in large logo with highland stags or west highland terriers from around 1985/6. I don't know why Bachmann are so reluctant to release a Scottish 47/4 when they release Scottish 37/4s seemingly every year.

Forgot to say that the railway journey from Wroclaw to Kudowa Zdroj is a fantastic journey climbing into the mountains on the czech border. Not much there when you get there though! It was deep with snow when I visited in January last year.

looks like the model I sold on ebay a couple of years ago

As Any one, any idea what the class 47 (in primer) is, in the north end of Donny works.
Its being their for a while now.
Is it preserved, if so who`s is it.
47703 i believe and maybe a Harry Needle loco.
-
Good enough. I got my copy from a little local newsagent, and I distinctly remember it being bagged because MR and RM weren't (but they came from WHS).
We should all be trying to cut down on plastic waste and magazines being bagged really shouldn't be happening anymore, same as bananas in the supermarket in plastic bags WTF
-
Hi,
I have received my 47712 this morning, on removing the loco and placing on a flat surface it didn't sit correctly and had a distinct wobble with three wheels on each bogie about 1mm off the ground. I have loosened the bogie screws but it still sits on the wobble, this is the first Bachmann 47 I have owned that does this. Very bizarre. I'm not chuffed at all so will be in contact with seller about returning it.
-
I agree that Bachmann does seem to have missed a trick here by doing all three version as HA allocated, rather than one when allocated to ED. Not difficult to change the transfer, but not everyone wants to change a pristine model.
Here's a Westie double-header with 47705 and 47708 https://goo.gl/images/pxNNo6
As far as am aware 47712 did not receive a westie and retained the Haymarket castle well into 1990 and possibly NSE days. It did get the aerial sometime in 1988 though.
-
And 47714 in Anglia, all off the same tooling.... at 512 each produced that’s 2048 push pull 47/7’s released recently. At £155 each that’s £315k in class 47/7s... market must be healthy.
Not sure 47714 and 47701 share the same tooling
-
Sorry, when I said heavier numbers I meant thicker printing, they are still small numbers and the same livery as the prototype.I'm now confused also. The Rep model of 47 832 as per photo at the top of this thread is correctly based on unbranded Exec Mainline Livery with tiny numbers.
Later on 47 832 had full Swallow livery applied together with cut away cab BB's. This version also had larger heavier No's and a lighter Silver White lower bodyside band as opposed to the darker Exec light Grey.....
-
As per above, the pre-production sample model of 47 832 was stolen, so does one now assume it's been recovered, ? perhaps the photo you refer to above is of a re-painted model, going by the model in Bachmann's display case at Warley, it looks pristine, with no sign of any weathering..............................
This had me confused but the new weathered version has heavier numbers and the black surrounding the marker lights is also heavier which is consistent with other 47 releases. The lower mushroom colour looks lighter despite the weathering. It can't be too many days until these are released so not long to wait hopefully.
-
On page 158 of the February issue of Railway Modeller there is a photo of 47832 Tamar in it's attractive executive livery, It looks like it is the production model but I was surprised to see that it appears to be lightly weathered. I think it looks really nice and maybe I will buy 2 and convert one to 47527 Kettering with a chassis swap with my 47436. (which may become 47818).
The roof weathering would help to disguise the boiler port conversion so I hope it is the production model.
Bachmann announce NEW Class 47

I think most 47s had the marker lights this way but 47581 had them in the higher position and I think it was unique in this respect
