    Haha I sure do!

I’ve spent most of my modelling time lately on something completely different, a commission for a real life train company, which I should be allowed to show some pics of hopefully after this weekend, assuming goes to plan!

Aside from that I’ve been squeezing in a couple of VGAs which are halfway through being weathered (the poo brown variety again!) and six years after my last batch, some more TEA wagons which have so far proved a disaster with getting some initial protecting varnish to stay settled on the model throughout my heavy weathering stages, never had this challenge the last time around!

I’ll definitely keep you posted on all this for sure! ;)

    Cheers,

    James

Sounds amazing mate following with much interest!

    Cheers

  2. Also a trio of other wagons have been completed after a long time sitting half done,

    BDA No.951082 Railfreight/EWS combo!

SPA No.460890 again in battered Railfreight red with EWS maroon patch painting and a lot of rust!

And finally a mundane EWS MFA ballast wagon No.391451 renumbered using the Railtec pack.

Very nice job on these :paint::good:

    Cheers mate!

Got some more progress to report of first up the OAA... this wagon is now very nearly done it has had its brake levers and other underframe details scratchbuilt from brass and nickel silver and a couple of Cambrian mouldings. The air brake pipes and OHL flashes have just been applied. Only needs screw couplings (MJT), TOPS panels and weathering to complete!

  4. I've been following this layout topic for a while and I must say it's superb ! Love the semaphore signalling and the overgrown and rationalised trackwork. It's come a long way from the original version I remember reading about in Model Rail magazine way back in 2010! Keep up the good work!

    Regards

  5. Ah David that is some superb collection of HAAs you have! I currently have 36 would love to get it up to 60 ( 3 rakes of 20) for my layout Monks Siding.

Following with much interest! Are you planning on renumbering all of them?

Lovely work here Lewis. Keep us posted with further updates. Interested to know how you did the road over bridge?

    Thanks Chris!

I will do I intend to keep progress and updates steady!

Well it was completely scratchbuilt it's the one that used to feature on my other layout Dallam TMD but it has been pinched! Basically the supports are plywood with English bond brick sheet layered over. The deck is a piece of plywood which then had the beams glued underneath. The same method of plywood and plasticard was used for the sides just needs some coping stones to finish it off....was thinking if using blu tack and moulding some and then painting them.

I'll take some more photos of it tomorrow.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

Cracking stuff Lewis. Really liking the track... I'm just about to embark on my own attempts of track laying and was wondering about rail joiners. Did you use anything?

    Cheers

    Will

    P.S. liking your 60s on your thread/flickr :)

    Hiya Will,

Cheers! Well actually I didn't! Simply filed the edges of the rails smooth and pushed them together and then fitted cosmetic Brass masters etched fishplates to the joins. Not had any trouble so far....every section of track is live so unlike trainsets the fishplates aren't needed for keeping the electric flowing....

Thank you! Well 60099 is currently the only one I've not finished need to get it weathered and showcased!

    Regards

    Lewis

  9. Hello and time for another update!

Been working on the scenery I've added some spare flat bottom rails to the permanent way, cables to connect to the trunking and orange cables, and a hard standing for the relay room building.

Thank you, with a bit of cleaning up at the building stage, they go together well.

I've not done anything else with them, busy trying to get another few SPA's finished the the faded red weathered look, without them looking pink!

They really do I've built 3 so far great kits. It's fun painting them faded red! Mine are rusted pink !

  11. Thanks Wild Boar Fell! Ahh I haven't thought of it like that till you said it but I see what you mean! Yes I'm including the old steam era gas lights as they definitely add to the atmosphere Arpley junction retains quite a few amazing considering how long they have been redundant. These model ones are made from Ratio telegraph poles modified with brass strip and a bearing for the lamp and Ratio ladders added instead of the footsteps which were cut off.

    Cheers

    Lewis

  12. Thank you very much Will! Yes the winter nights are great time to get jobs done! And glad you like it I love the combination of 60 on EWS HTAs just as I remember and photographed them between 2010-2015 on the Fiddler's PS duties. The slab sides of both seem to naturally go together!

    Plenty more to come!

    Cheers
