Hiya Chris ! Cheers for the photos ! I've literally just won a Mainline 56 for £19 on eBay tonight so will soon be wiring in a decoder and then it's onto detailing! Love the new photos looking forward to more Regards Lewis
-
Hello Chris, How's the layout going? Used to love seeing the updates! Also could you post a picture of the class 56s with the hardwired decoders please? Thinking of getting one and doing the same! Regards Lewis

Just had a read though your posts mate some excellent work here. Love the OAA ! And the Sea Hare and Sea Urchin are 2 very interesting 2000s era wagons that dont get modelled that often! Ive got a couple of OBAs on the bench and plan on using a 00000 brush for painting the individual planks. Should make the job a bit easier. Following with interest , Cheers Lewis

More amazing work James the 60s are simply top notch! Always interested in seeing what projects your working on. Got any more scruffy 2000s era EWS wagons on the bench!? Cheers Lewis -

Any new wagon projects James? Sure you've got another batch waiting to be revealed! Cheers Lewis -
Also a trio of other wagons have been completed after a long time sitting half done, BDA No.951082 Railfreight/EWS combo! BDA No.951082 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr SPA No.460890 again in battered Railfreight red with EWS maroon patch painting and a lot of rust! SPA No.460890 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr And finally a mundane EWS MFA ballast wagon No.391451 renumbered using the Railtec pack. MFA No.391451 EWS by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr

Cheers mate! Got some more progress to report of first up the OAA... this wagon is now very nearly done it has had its brake levers and other underframe details scratchbuilt from brass and nickel silver and a couple of Cambrian mouldings. The air brake pipes and OHL flashes have just been applied. Only needs screw couplings (MJT), TOPS panels and weathering to complete!

'MONKS SIDING' - Modern Image MGR operations
Arpleymodeller replied to Arpleymodeller's topic in Layout topics
Cheers mate! Been busy working on a few more bits I'll make an update for tomorrow evening. Stay tuned! Lewis -
I've been following this layout topic for a while and I must say it's superb ! Love the semaphore signalling and the overgrown and rationalised trackwork. It's come a long way from the original version I remember reading about in Model Rail magazine way back in 2010! Keep up the good work! Regards Lewis

Ah David that is some superb collection of HAAs you have! I currently have 36 would love to get it up to 60 ( 3 rakes of 20) for my layout Monks Siding. Following with much interest! Are you planning on renumbering all of them? Lewis

'MONKS SIDING' - Modern Image MGR operations
Arpleymodeller replied to Arpleymodeller's topic in Layout topics
Thanks Chris! I will do I intend to keep progress and updates steady! Well it was completely scratchbuilt it's the one that used to feature on my other layout Dallam TMD but it has been pinched! Basically the supports are plywood with English bond brick sheet layered over. The deck is a piece of plywood which then had the beams glued underneath. The same method of plywood and plasticard was used for the sides just needs some coping stones to finish it off....was thinking if using blu tack and moulding some and then painting them. I'll take some more photos of it tomorrow. Hope this helps Regards Lewis -

Hiya Will, Cheers! Well actually I didn't! Simply filed the edges of the rails smooth and pushed them together and then fitted cosmetic Brass masters etched fishplates to the joins. Not had any trouble so far....every section of track is live so unlike trainsets the fishplates aren't needed for keeping the electric flowing.... Thank you! Well 60099 is currently the only one I've not finished need to get it weathered and showcased! Regards Lewis -

MONKS SIDING MARCH 2019 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr MONKS SIDING MARCH 2019 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr Also been building a couple of RATIO LMS semaphore signals ... MONKS SIDING MARCH 2019 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr MONKS SIDING MARCH 2019 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr The extension end of the layout has also been half ballasted and the embankment has had static grass applied. MONKS SIDING by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr A nice little addition is this Hornby hut which will function as a shunters cabin. MONKS SIDING MARCH 2019 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr First speed limit sign from Sankey Scenics... MONKS SIDING MARCH 2019 by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr And for fun 66019 on the HEA rake! currently have 11 of these hoppers would like to build it up to 20 for an alternative to the HAAs! Hello and time for another update! Been working on the scenery I've added some spare flat bottom rails to the permanent way, cables to connect to the trunking and orange cables, and a hard standing for the relay room building. MONKS SIDING Progress by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr MONKS SIDING Trackwork by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr Work is also progressing on the other end of the layout the extension part, backscene fitted and landscaping has begun. 66207 arrives with more coal empties to run round. MONKS SIDING Extension by Arpleymodeller60059, on Flickr An overview of MONKS SIDING in its current form! As can be seen the foamboard shells for new industrial low relief structures have been added! Thanks Wild Boar Fell! Ahh I haven't thought of it like that till you said it but I see what you mean! Yes I'm including the old steam era gas lights as they definitely add to the atmosphere Arpley junction retains quite a few amazing considering how long they have been redundant. These model ones are made from Ratio telegraph poles modified with brass strip and a bearing for the lamp and Ratio ladders added instead of the footsteps which were cut off. Cheers Lewis -

Thank you very much Will! Yes the winter nights are great time to get jobs done! And glad you like it I love the combination of 60 on EWS HTAs just as I remember and photographed them between 2010-2015 on the Fiddler's PS duties. The slab sides of both seem to naturally go together! Plenty more to come! Cheers Lewis
