Today something different being worked on.
I have started to paint the interior of one of the composite coaches. Third class seats were varnished timber slatted benches . However first class were dark blue upholstered comfy seats, so these have Bern painted. At present I am isure how far that I will go with the interiors but at least this is a start. There will be some passengers added.
Well spotted Ian, They could be dark red if smoking. I must do mine then.

Hi all,
I have heard that these Bulleid's are dropped from the list. Shame if this is true as this was going to be a fantastic project. Shame Dapol has gone down this line.

It's worth also keeping an eye on the Dapol Digest Forum as well as their website. Plus you can ask Dapol questions directly there.

Hi Grahame,
I'm on there too with no update as such.
Thanks anyway,
Chris

Hi All,
I had a look at the Dapol site and still no futher update to add.
However the BB/WC page is here
http://Dapol.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=179_298_300_345
There is no link from the main page. :-(
Therefore no news is good news.
Cheers,
Chris

I'm not sure if Sidmouth's boiler was ever used for measuring up for TV at Bridgnorth in the end (it has no e in it) and has languished in the yard since its arrival. It would be nice to see another West Country restored.
Hi,
A picture of the boiler being used as a template for Taw Valley http://www.southern-locomotives.co.uk/News/news.htmlthird set of pictures down.
Hope to see the boiler moved soon.

Is anyone able to video capture 34046 Braunton going through Dawlish using the live cam? That's down and up on the same video? Just like Andy Y's post

Hi all,
The ducting used for electric should be corrugated black, smooth on the inside, two meters in length and either 4 inch or 6 inch (100mm or 150mm) for the mains cable and smooth 38mm alkathene tube for the services. All with "ELECTRIC" stamped on them at regular intervals.
Low voltage cables are black, High Voltage cables 11,000 volts are red while 33,000 are black.
Back on topic, I believe that it is all service cables here, So therefore a 100 meter coil of alkathene tube may be used but direct lay of cables may be used.for heat loss. (Ducting generates heat and reduces cable rating),
I'll be watching the replacement of the electric with great excitement.
Hope this helps.

I actually quite like the 153s as there's far more window area compared to 150s (where the seats near the doors have no view at all) and they obviously ride better than 143s.
My introduction to DMUs anonymous - "Hello, my name is Richard & I like class 153s...."
Hi Rich,
At least it is better than a 142!

This is so much fun. Thanks guys.

With the DJ holding the long playing record, but at 33 1/3 RPM it would take a long time to cut the rail.
A 78 RPM would be better, but shellac records does shatter quite easily.
Also well done to the Captain K and the orange army.

But to me the flag is too small
It should be a Cornish flag...... Or a Devon flag........................................................

I reckon if we got this crew that has just rebuilt the track at Dawlish signed up to build HS2 it would be up and running in a couple of years!
Keith
Just think what they could do with the Okehampton route.....

Track laying on a Sunday... Sounds like a model railway hobby.

Looks like a couple of days old but worth a look.
At 8:45 on the video and I'm thinking this is "Shadow" , the offspring of the Big Red Spidery Thing.

Hi All,
At least with these concrete L sections in place the workforce will have some protection from the openness of the sea.

34010 "Sidmouth" - No time like the present - Restoration
in Preservation
Posted
Hi all,
This is from the Southern Locomotives webpage.
"The groundwork has now been prepared for both Sidmouth and Brocklebank Line at Sellindge, with these two projects moving forward together before the former is returned to Swanage. We have now acquired our own grit blasting equipment, including an almost new cabinet blaster for smaller items. By coincidence a scaffolding firm has just rented some land for storage a few yards from our area, and have offered to organise undercover accommodation for Brocklebank Line and Sidmouth's frames for us.
We will arrange the transfer of Sidmouth's frames, but we need to have moved Brocklebank Line's first as they will sit behind Sidmouth's, as the latter's will be moving off site first. It's impractible to arrange for Sidmouth's frames to arrive on the same day as Brocklebank Line is lifted, so this will be undertaken the week after the main move.
The delays to Sidmouth's restoration are frustrating but our supporters will appreciate that it's essential to have Sir Keith Park, Eddystone, Manston and 257 Squadron earning revenue to fund much of the cost of its restoration. Given the number of shareholders supporting Sidmouth, and the relatively large amount of cash they have contributed Sidmouth will come first.
Our minor moves are taking place on 21st September and the crane is booked for the 7th October for Brocklebank Line and the 19th for Sidmouth's frames."
I believe the frames of Sidmouth was delayed slightly due to our rainy season and should be there now.
Kind regards,
Chris
