  1. Well, that was that! All the planning and preparations not to mention, hard work is all over now. I enjoyed it and I think most of the others did too. It’s too early to say how well we did but at times it was rather quieter than we would have preferred. At other times there certainly was a good “hubbub” going on. A friend of mine who is a trader, professed to have done “okay” so hopefully, we have made enough to carry on for a while yet. By all accounts though, when even large venues like Warley are relatively quiet, it does make one wonder how long shows will be able to continue in their current form.

    Some ‘snaps’ I managed to take on Sunday morning;

    Cheers,

    John.

    Really enjoyed bringing Arcadia Pennsylvania to the show and, as before, found the whole weekend, environment warm and friendly. Really hope that the event was a success - Leigh offered an excellent range of layouts on show. It is always pleasing to get a chance to get to know folks and share ideas.

    Have now been tasked with developing a GB layout for next year!

  2. I've been thinking this for quiet a while, why do we bother, do these people know what goes into exhibiting a layout, setting up, standing on your feet for 16 hours , getting grief from SWMBO, all to try and please some moaning bas***ds. :nono:

    being an American HO modeller, our layouts are usually a small percentage of most exhibition (there are a few exceptions) and you do get a bit fed up with some peoples attitude, but when you get a person or persons asking question about construction, operations etc it then seem worth the while!.

    I think in future i'll be more selective, as to which shows to attend, maybe concentrating on those that are American friendly :stinker:

    Hey Ray!

    Don't you dare start rationing your presence at exhibitions. 29th Street needs to know that it can encounter some friendly faces on the circuit!

  3.  Arcadia,Shaw, [advertise on RM web] have a large selection of Bemo Locos [metal and plastic] and coaches and wagons at good prices

    Very good shop.  Good stock levels - both locos and rolling stock.  Good loco range on convenient display.  Well worth a visit.

  4. .. last summer I decided to have a go and get one of those POS sets - this, of course, having to do with the fact that they operate not only in France, but also in Germany and Switzerland.

    Looks a very stylish set - the blue bodyside colour is clean and disctinctive.

    The V150 set which clocked the 574.8 kph/357 mph world speed record on 3 April 2007 was composed of the two power units of POS set 4402 and three specially modified bi-level trailers whose bogies were powered as well.

    That's cheating - typical of the French to do anything to have the fastest train - and overly unprototypical! OBB should have bolted on a rolls-royce jet engine with their 1216 - rather than just unscrew the plough of the front biggrin.gif .
