I was in took a diversion through Alum Rock and I was astonished at how many people were gathering together on the streets, mostly outside takeaways and some were spitting food put onto the pavement....
I used to live nearby. Post-work ale induced munchies lead to occasional pitstops in said takeaways.
- Personal opinion, the action described above is perfectly understandable....

All Class 142s, 143s and 144s had Voith transmission fitted by late March 1991, but still retained Leyland TL11 engines. The TL11 engine was not very well matched to the Voith gearbox and they were very noisy and slow. At college, we used to dub them as being 'Voith-Bugged' because of this. A 144 pulling away at 0:29 secs illustrates the point.
Noisy, yes, but this one at 1:56 is none too sluggish:
- But my person preference is for the original TL11/SCG combo at 0:42!

In a previous century, I bought my first Swann Morton scalpel from Kings Cross Models at age 15, with blades. No questions.
I got my first Swann Morton at 14, almost four decades ago.
Mind, the only person I've ever damaged with it (& its' successors) has been myself....
