  1. Hi Gang,

If Kernow have concrete information that the Strathclyde one has made the cut ( the issue of a stock number is hopeful), then that is most excellent news.

It means now that I need to alter/ tidy up my orders with Revolution to get the best mix of Saltire and Strathclyde 320s, sort one or two with sound and ditch the 321 from the order as the interim version sent to Scotland before conversion to 320.

  2. Hi Gang,

Just received the Hatton’s newsletter with the good news that the Dapol 156 is going to have a chassis update and be retailed in two new liveries.
Finally, the Strathclyde Red livery makes the cut along with a Northern Rail scenic livery, although I think the plain Northern Rail livery might be a better seller.

What will be interesting to see if this will provide a fillip for the Revolution Class 320 to get the required numbers in Strathclyde Red. Here’s hoping!

  3. Hi Gang,

KMS have ‘hinted’ that a couple of Mk2s may be feasible in the future which would be great news. I cannot put my finger on the actual comments at the moment due to poor bandwidth.

Have ordered a couple of Stag and a couple of unbranded First versions. I had ordered the branded First before the others were added, but it should be easy to remove the logos should I wish to after I get them.

Will make a nice now and then comparison once the Revolution Mk5s hit the streets...with the prospect of running both together for a small period in time as highland/ lowland sleepers..

  4. Hi Gang,

As a fan of Today’s Railways UK and worrying about availability at the newsagent for my next copy, I ventured to the Platform 5 website which has a banner saying that both the UK and Europe monthlies are suspended TFN. There is a hope that they may restart with the July 2020 issue, published in June, but I feel this is a little hopeful.

Will any of the other magazines go the same way...time will tell!

Don’t know how this will affect subscriptions, but a word of warning, the first link took me to the Newstand web portal....who look as if they will still be happy to take your money for a suspended title. Be warned!

  5. Hi Ben/Mike,

I’ll add my congratulations on the continued success and future longevity of Revolution Trains. I remember the initial brave steps along this road and have admired every twist and turn along the way.
More power to your elbow...and I look forward to much continued interaction in your removing money from my pay check!!

    Best Wishes,

And please don't forget the 3rd rail Class 508s on Mersey routes and Southeastern ........

    Hi Gerry;

I’m wondering if the 507/508 variant may be one for the future as a new roof would have to be tooled without the pantograph well. Then there would be the question of revised headlights in the Merseyrail era.

One for the Revolution gents to ponder...

  7. Hi Gang,

    This is great news. I will be in for a bundle of 314s to go with my Class 320s already on order. It will be interesting to narrow the 314 liveries down from the 5 main that they have carried over the years, namely;

    1. Blue/Grey

    2. Strathclyde Red

    3. Carmine & Cream

    4. Carmine & Cream with DDA doors

    5. Saltire

My personal preference would be 2, 3 or 4 and 5.....if I was to narrow it further, I would go down to one of the Carmine and Cream choices.....it’s going to be difficult!!

See you tomorrow at TINGS as I am in the country for once!

  8. Hi Gang,

Managed to add it to my basket at £8.99 at the 2nd attempt. 1st attempt got Boxing Monthly...so obviously a wrong hyperlinked graphic on the front page.

Not too fussed about the price difference...annoying but not enough to be ‘Disgusted of EGDL’ and not buy it out of spite/tightness/social media disgust*.(Delete as appropriate)

    Still working through Issue 6.....

  9. Looks like some ‘blue trains’.

Interesting, as there now seems to be two sources for these. One from Worsley with the correct window pattern and a resin/printed version with only 3 top light windows.

so, as I want to build some of these, it will be interesting to see how these go together and I’m assuming roofs and chassis build will not be any more complex than getting the bodies constructed in a sensible manner.

    Good Luck,

  10. Hi Jools,

Unfortunately, the only really common thing is the colour.

66047 is a four door 66 with WIPAC lights.

66727 is a five door 66 with revised WIPAC lights and a reduced size fuel tank.

Couple that to the fact that 66727 needs large numbers and logos removing...and it becomes a bit bigger than just a simple renumber.

However, if your wish is to have the model you want to your preference, then nobody can complain.

Good Luck if you take the plunge...

I think it's fair to say these lads have a lot on there plate with what they have planned, let them get on top of what is ongoing before we start the wish lists.

    Hi 25901,

I spoke to the Accurascale gents at Glasgow on this very subject and have also crossed Revolution’s bow with the same idea, as collaboration between the two companies in design is evident. To not suggest that there is a latent interest in another scale would never allow the companies concerned to see that there is interest in their product which ‘could’ be exploited.

Whilst ‘wishlisting’ has it’s place in this hobby, then a simple ‘ I’m interested in one in the scale I model’ may just prove to be the carrot that is needed to tip a manufacturer into leaning towards a favourable decision.

I appreciate that these companies have many interests and projects on the go, but an expression that a future model at some stage would be well received is a valid tool.

Of course, I could be wrong...I have been in the past!!
