Hello all,
I am starting a new topic for Aldersgate: this time we have a building inspired by Mowlem Hall in Stepney High Street. I remember this from the late 60s/early 70s as a boxing club and venue for dance classes. Before that it was Redcoat Secondary Modern (and previously Parish) school. I also remember the rather dodgy "New Flamingo" club housed next door. It was all knocked down many years ago and there are only a handful of photos available (unless any readers have some more).

I’m feeling pretty good about this cameo. Since this is all partially hidden these are mostly the figures one can buy in bulk from China on eBay. They are ok for the price but some have very long legs (probably for an architectural model) and have to suffer amputation above the ankle. These grisley bits turn up as boots for sale on one of the market stalls!!

I have to give credit to kingsway for the ticket machines.
The WH Smith unit is probably about 50 years old. It's been part of the junk I have been carrying around in case I could use it one day!

I posted these on facebook but I thought I should really be repeating them here.

You can view the whole layout on our club's website southwarkmrc@wordpress.com under Crystal Palace High Level (layouts and galleries). The photographs are a bit old now and quite a bit more progress has been made since then.
The layout was booked to go to the Bluebell Model Railway Model Railway Exhibition at Sheffield Park the end of June this year, unfortunately, Covid 19 put paid to that!
I did and it's really quite something. Look forward to seeing it at an exhibition as and when we become "unlocked". By coincidence I took a walk from the real thing a week or so back.

Thought I would add some update photos for anyone kind enough to have followed this topic in the past. The main update is that the track is now fully ballasted and painted. Liverpool Street was basically dirt and oil on a base of rust and I have followed suit. The sides of the rails were already painted in Humbrol rust and this has been followed by a wash of Daler acrylic raw and burnt umber. Lastly, Daler's "paynes grey" in various dilutions has been washed on to provide the required filth! It's come out better than I expected and I'm pretty happy with it. LMS Models' rail built buffers look really good in situ.
Onwards and upwards!

A broken L1 is now repaired and I also chipped my two N2s so feel like I have three new engines today! Time to press on with the ballasting.

Ouch, no wonder I couldn't fix it with superglue. The L1 is now repaired and I also chipped my two N2s so feel like I have three new engines today!
(Believe it or not I dropped a N2 yesterday but it survived.)

...anyway, New Modellers' Shop seems to have come to the rescue.
Thanks again everyone. (And for introducing me to sources that I didn't know existed!)

Fantastic responses: thank you everyone. Now I know why I am on RM Web. To be fair to Hornby they did also just suggest:
..."Thank you for your reply, may I suggest that you could try AC Models for a replacement bogie, they break models down and sell the parts individually."

Stupidly I dropped my BR L1 and broke the 4 wheel rear bogie. One side is broken and hence bogie appears curved and derails of course.
I asked Hornby if I could get a replacement as I couldn't see it on the list of spares. Unfortunately I got the rather unhelpful/automaton response from Hornby below (!).
Could anyone suggest a replacement from another manufacturer/supplier or another solution. I don't mind a bit of "fettling" but a scratch build is probably beyond me.
Many thanks
Andrew
..."
Hello Andrew,
Thank you for your email, I have spoken with the spares team, unfortunately they have informed me that the part you have requested is not listed as a replacement part.
Yours sincerely.."

Guys, I've looked at the manual and googled it but have to admit that I can't restore factory settings. Could you give me a tip/link to the answer?
Thanks in advance.

I like to do some "visualisation" during build, like this (and ..... opps slipped one in from the next board).
