As a side project, bus rather than railway related Ive been making a display box for my Brighton Blue buses destination blind. Made from spare 6mm ply some batten and a couple of broom handles from Wilko.....all very high tech. I've also found a nice 3ft LED batten fitting
to illuminate it.

Third wall completed. They are just propped up on the building at the moment.

The front walls have had a quick squirt of grey primer, I’m wondering if using a stone effect spray can will give a good finish rather than using loads of Scalescenes pebbledash.

A start has been made on the window cutting out...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The walls are not yet attached.
Whilst it is a very plain looking building it does have a quite complex window and panels arrangement. All the windows on these two wall are cut out and the second layer of panelling added.
I think I will give it all a quick coat of grey primer so that any edges that show won't be white.

I hope it works out well for you.Yes thank you Grahame for some inspiration.

OK a couple of pics showing progress on the TWA building. This is the Russell Road Frontage. The Kensington High Street frontage will be built afterwards, once Ive worked out how much room I have as I want to include the Bristol Cars showroom.
With the second photo spot the deliberate mistake........yes the floor marked top isn't! There is one more to go that I didn't cut out. Well strictly speaking its the roof.......The top floors are only slotted in at the moment
so I can use it as a template for the missing floor.
There will be some extra supports added for strength.

but also.....what?Good to see you back in action Andy.
I trust that your building will include the cafeteria, where not only could you get TWA coffee but also...

I managed to find a few spare mins to do some modelling today. This is the second attempt at the TWA West London terminal ( now the Olympia Hilton hotel ). For a change I’ve gone down the road the Grahame is using for most of his buildings.
The frame work of the building has been started using mount board. Walls will be made using the same method covered in Scalescenes concrete / pebbledash. Due to space limitations and to reduce the size of this building compared to the adjacent Georgian terraces I’ve reduced the number of floors on the TWA building. It will also be on a steeper slope than in real life too.
I’ll get some photos posted shortly.

It’s less than two weeks until the annual Brighton show.
It will include the first showing of the clubs Colmans Hatch layout plus several layouts new to the area.

Come along and say hello, doors open at 1000 and don’t miss out on the world famous refreshments!

Thank you both for your help. The location has been confirmed elsewhere too. Shame it’s largely gone...although the bus is still with us.
-
The Interfrigo van looks good, too. Have you written that up anywhere?
Jim
Not yet Jim. It will be on my layout topic eventually. It hasn’t progressed any further yet. scratchbuilt body on a stretched Fleischmann chassis.
-
DOH! Of course the brushes are on the wrong side, didn’t spot that.

I wonder if any RMweb members are able to help with this image I've recently acquired. I am trying to track down the location in Leeds and a better guess at the date it was taken. The pub behind and the road kill score board are very distictive.
The bus was new in 1964 so I guess its going to be winter 1964/5 date wise?
It also gives you an excuse to put a Queen Mary on a northern based layout!
Thanks in advance

Also new from RailNScale is a Mercedes LP 808 gutter cleaning truck: https://railnscale.com/2017/10/15/mercedes-benz-lp-808/#jp-carousel-12735 and a small two axle dust-cart based on the same vehicle.
Currently they're in 1:160 (and left hand drive) but apparently they will produce it in 1:148 scale if requested.
G.
Gutter cleaners were usually LHD so that the driver could see the gutter. They always had a little sign on the back of them. Can’t say that I’ve seen one for a while to see if that’s still the case.

Those wheels look better. I’m going to try and file off the back on the original wheels as I think that was stops the tyre going far enough on the axle. If that doesn’t work I’ll be following your lead.

Finally completed the Cavaliers and Volvos. I got a yellow, orange, red and white paint pen to add to the silver and black. These are very useful for small details like indictaors and brake lights etc.

You don’t hang about do you Grahame. I wish I could clear my backlog of buildings that well and that quickly.
-
Thank you Grahame. They were spray painted with Tamiya acrylics then varnished and then the details painted in with a brush or paint pen. black and silver. I’m going to get a red, yellow and orange one for the tailights etc.
Next time I’ll varnish last.
-
Appologies for the grainy image taken on my Ipad. Here is progress so far with my Volvo and Cavalier trios. Side lights, indicators etc to be added along with registration plates.
The Micro clear windows are still drying hence the cloudy windscreens.

Looking good Grahame. Having just started to detail my RailnScale cars I’m starting to appreciate the ODC cars painted details more and more. I’ve a few Cortinas on order thought I’d repaint some! ......not yellow!

Looking forward to mine......
