  1. Good morning to all and even sundry. Much of the G word yesterday and there are visible signs in the garden of what we did. An evening in front of the gogglebox and even a bit of rugby watching. I did see thatvEngland needed a little help from the French to gain the title. The Entente Cordiale is alive and well. Not a lot on the agenda today apart from a trip to thecmarket for exsential supplies of cheese, pies and cakes. Regards to all. Jamie
  2. I think that Red engines can travel faster than Hippos. It was good to see my new compatriots help the English out. Jamie
  3. Nice places to go. By coincidence we hadca chat with no 2 son last night. He and his girlfriend had taken his caravan to Ingleton and they were planning to do the waterfall walk today. Jamie
  4. Unfortunately the G word has dominated the day as it's the only dry spell for a while. However I did pop in and spent some time in the Finney 7 meeting. I didn't have time for much else but thought that it was a good idea and obviously a lot of hard work had gone into it. Jamie
  5. Happy birthday Dom. It's wall to wall sunshine here so the G word has been undertaken. Sit down time now then grass cutting this afternoon. Ads here for Noveau , I think it's a shopping site but the lady is either wearing a belt or her legs go up to her armpits. Jamie
  6. Good morning, or whatever greeting is appropriate for your location. Day 2 of lockdown 2 and still no cases within 10 miles of us, thank goodness. 2 of our kids will be in Tier 3 on Monday the other is in a tier 1 area but has to commute to Leeds for his work thst is classed as essential. He helps keep cable networks going. Not a lot happenned yesterday but I did manage sone shed time that involved, drilling, tapping and inserting 12BA bolts. Today is forecast to be sunny, so a day in the garden is planned. Yesterday afternoon we satvout on the bench for a bit and heard and saw a robon on the bird feeder. Whatca fabulous sound he made. How could anyone not be uplifted by that. He was about 20 yards away. Regards to all. Jamie
  7. There was one in the staff only area of Schofield's department store in Leeds. I got onto it by accident once and thought it brilliant. Would be very appropriate for the layout. Jamie
  8. Good afternoon. It's nice and sunny and I've just been out for the 1 hr walk that we are allowed. However the tardis is still in May 2007 at Brighton with a few more from Volks electric railway to start. No 9 having just come through the carriage sheds. Then looking west along the line towards the pier. We now move to the Thames valley and Keith and I used out usual Cross country friends and family £10 ticket, courtesy of his daughter, to get to Reading and then knocked off the Thames Valley branches. Here we are at Bourne End reversing to get to Marlow. With the driver changing ends. After going to and from Marlow the guard worked the ground frame at Bourne End. Then along the main line to Twyford to wait for the shuttle to Henley. I hadn't realised the scenery was so good in the Thames valley. More tomorrow all being well. Jamie
  9. If the club were to assume rights of ownership now and dispose of the stock, in my opionon no dishonesty would be involved thus no offence of theft. The club has a) stored it for a considerable period of time without payment of fees. B) made reasonable efforts to locate the owner. Jamie
  10. Happy Anniversary Brian. It will be 42 for us next year. We'll probably still be in lockdown at this rate. Hope you enjoy the day. Jamie
  11. Bonjour from the land of lockdown, at least since midnight. We now have to ckutch our attestations again when venturing out (no sniggerring on the back row there ). The relevant pieces of paper have been printed out. I wonder if supplies of Humbrol paint would be classed as essential. Cognac and wine are. Glad to see that Dave and Tony are back home safely. Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday. My daughter said that I didn't look my age and that her mother doesn't act hers. I did pick a bone with her though. My card was addressed to Rue de l'Antique L'Atlantique. Daughter in law Laura confessed to that one saying it was a mistake, should I believe her. The plumbing got done eventually and the old shower and plinth have gone. Planning of the new bathroom is now underway. Not sure what today will bring but I will do my best to enjoy the day. Regards to all. Jamie
  12. You could always have one of those vertical fiddle yards that moves up and down in place of one or more roads in the existing one. Our village baguette machine has a similar system inside. Jamie
  13. First if all Dave, I'm glad you're home safe and sound and the news sounds good. I suppose Jill did take the chance to remark that you weren't full of s**t for once. Interesting discussions about the 26XX. I presume that it's some sort of double framed loco with outside cranks. I've made a couple of those as Mr Kirtley produced such items for both passemger and goods locos. Slaters use an updated version of the K's system for the 0-6-0 with the outside frames attached to the body and with loose slots that engage with sets of bearings on the axles outside the wheels. It does work well. I've also done some etch design and would be happy to help out proof read etc. In 12 thou brass prices are a good bit lower than what HH has suggested. Jamie
  14. Good afternoon. More pictures on a sunny but cool afternoon. First the real reason that I went to Colton Junction that day. Rood Ashton Hall heading south to Birmingham on a railtour that had been to York. This must have been taken about 4.15pm. Thanks to Six Bells Junction I've been able to date the photo to the afternoon of 28th April 2007. Then we head south. My wife and I went to a a church conference at Brighton the next week and one afternoon I escaped and rode Volk's electric railway. As far as I know the oldest electric railway n the UK. Here my transport is waiting to depart from the pier terminus. Off we set and I was fascinated that we actually ran through the carriage shed. Presumably this is a 3rd class conveyance. Then the next two at the Marina terminus. And another view of the terminus. A unique line. I believe that Ben Ando is a supporter. Jamie
  15. I'm of the 52 vintage, born the year that HM came to the throne. Anyway the shower has been demolished. I will post pictures of the state of the plinth. We've just had a a good chat with Emily and her Mums. That has certainly brightened up the day. Possible bashing the plinth with a lump hammer has also helped. However this is what has really made my day. Regards to all again. Jamie
  16. Good afternoon from the Charente. The sun actually got up this morning to show me that I'd completed another circuit. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. We really know how to celebrate here. Fish and chips tonight from the van. However, as well as several cards, a bottle of Knockando appeared and will be sampled tonight. Even better Emily sent me a painting. That and a card did make me feel that there was something in my eyes. I will be video calling her later. I the went out to buy two slightly smaller endcaps for the pipes at the back of the shower. The pipes are now capped and the remaining panels will be taken to the trailer this afternoon. Lunch is to be had shortly. I hope to hear good news from Tony and Dave after their procedures. The Nice thing is bad. One part of me wonders whether the Gendarmes need eye tests, only wounding him with 6 or 7 shots. The other part of me wonders if a long term of imprisonment will actually be a harsher punishment for the offender. Anyway 4 weeks of lock down now beckons. Regards to all. Jamie
  17. So you are heading for either a land of milk and honey or porridge. Jamie
  18. Hope it all goes well at the hospital today Dave and that everything is fine and dandy. Jamie
  19. Good afternoon some more pictures. Still in Spring 2007. It's 16th April and we set off on a trip to do some lines in the Chester area. We start at Warrington Bank Quay with a 92 hauling empty flats south. Then a DRS 66 heading south. We then went via Shrewsbury to Wexham General and back to Chester then via MerseyRail to Ellesmere Port and caught the infrequent DMU to Helsby and Warrington. That finished off pages 40 and 51. We next move on to a day out at Colton Junction with a GNER liveried HST heading south on the diversion. Then a 66 on empty flats headed north. And a Cross Country Voyager followed the HST south. That's it for today. Jamie
  20. Good moaning from a rather damp bit of the Charente. A good day out was had yesterday. In the morning I toured two big sheds looking at showers and various options for pumps. Then a good meal at a Relais (transport cafe)and then pucked my mate up and spent the afternoon watching trains. Quite a few were seen, not many for the first time though, but good chat was had. Then drove home as it got dark and reported the results of the shower perusal to Beth. After a bit of discussion it was decided that we will not do a temporary (2 year) fix but get on with having the whole bathroom redone. That saves me a lot of work. As there is little likelihood of visitors staying here for quite a while it seems like a good idea to get the work done now. Tony S, hope everything goes well, i should say the same to Dave H but thst's a different type of going today. I''ve got to help a friend fit a new blade to a chop saw today and will continue with shower demolition. This evening we will probably watch President Macron speak to the nation. A 4 week lockdown is rumoured. Regards to all. Jamie
  21. Make the mostbof them. It's nearly 10 months since we last held Emily who was a rug rat learning to crawl then. I know youna tually enjoy thevpresence of the SPT's. Jamie
  22. Snap, MHCT 3XX in my case. I knowxSilksworth reasonably well. Beth had an Uncle and Aunt who moved to one of the Tower blocks from Ryhope. Visited itvquite regularly. Jamie
  23. Good moaning from the damp Charente. I now have a nearly demolished shower. Therevis no chance of repairing it and making do as parts of the plinth that I've uncovered are rotten. Chipboard and water don't mix. It would have been completely demolished but the idiot who installed it didn't install stop valves in the.water supply pipes. Plan B is now in operation. I'm off to Angouleme this morning to look at new shower cabinets and plumbing arrangements for a pump on the waste outlet. The day will not be wasted however as I'm going to gave lunch whilst I'm out then soend the afternoon trainspotting with my mate Andy. Sounds like a good plan for the day. Regards to all. Jamie
  24. Very definitely seek help Dave, you really need to get worried when you get a sudden urge to build models of green engines with copper rings round their chimneys. And as to the sheep problem, never wear your wellies when near a ewe. Jamie
