I have been told that the aggregate trains to Ardingly and Crawley respectively are going to be rerouted via The Coastway Line. Could this be why there is route learning on The Arun Valley Line because the Crawley bound trains are going to use the line.

That would be interesting. Makes sense as paths through London must be at a premium. I for one would be very happy if we had a few scheduled freight trains 'down the valley'.

There is a daily path for a GBRf service from Crawley to Cardiff diagrammed along the route, but as far as I know it has never run.

I resent the suggestion... I, of course, do no such thing. Mrs Dreyfus' assertion that I do is merely marital gaslighting...

  3. How very curious. I am not aware of punitive measures imposed on German manufacturers or dealers prohibiting the sale of items to the UK. Plenty do supply (with at least one exception much commented upon on here) to the UK, adding any extra postage costs etc where necessary.

More likely is an exclusivity agreement for supplying spares for the UK via Gaugemaster, but it is odd Piko did not direct you to them.

What is unlikely is an arbitrary decision not to deal with the UK for political reasons, especially given their announcement emphasising social tolerance and understanding following the (totally unjustified) criticism towards them just because they happened to be headquartered in a state that voted for AfD at the last local elections.

He was busy photographing our layout yesterday but its not Continental🙂.

Look forward to seeing the article.

Ah right, he did have a couple more photo shoots planned for the weekend, which makes sense given the distance he travelled. We are fortunate that our regular club room is the main hall in the last picture, so we have plenty of space for activities such as this.

It was a really enjoyable evening, with good company!

  5. Last night we had a photo session for an upcoming magazine article - article itself is written, but the published date is TBC.

Whilst the layout was set up and lots of different trains were running, I took the opportunity to get a few snaps for the album...

  6. I have a Wix site, and have noticed that the storage for photos is filling up. I have culled a few from the storage, but have been looking how to link photos from my Flickr page to take the burden off the Wix storage. Sadly the only way looks to be directly uploading from Flickr onto the Wix site, therefore onto the website storage. The instructions are not hugely helpful otherwise. Linking to the site from Flickr only surfaces as a link, as opposed to a displayed imbedded image.

I am not sure there will be any way of getting images to display in the Wix site without having to use the website storage, but has anyone come across this situation and found a way to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

  7. The Arun Valley seems a lot less interesting in terms of RHTT so far this year (no Tonbridge circuits as far as I can see - they are all turning back at Horsham). We are currently on a strict diet of Horsham MPVs...

DR98916 and DR98966 form the 3S93 05:51 Horsham TC - Horsham TC via Havant and Lewes (did not get as far as Eastbourne) past Pulborough on 2nd November. Given the stormy weather, there was certainly the need for the RHTT today!

  8. Various US H0 Wagons

I have the following available for sale, the remnants of an aborted US project.

    IMG_4854.JPG.edbc2dfdfdc61c4483dbb5c1628b03ef.JPG

    Bachmann 19405 - 50' box car - Delaware & Hudson ('I love New York' livery) - £8.00

    IMG_4857.JPG.efecbb39b077ec317fbdb81b7004e884.JPG

    Atlas 20 001 449 - 50' box car - Chicago & Eastern Illinois - £8.00

    IMG_0024.JPG.ee5b17b93a329ea859928a5af1b98df5.JPG

I am no expert, however the era I was attempting to model was early-mid 60s, so I aimed for these wagons to be representative of this period.

All are boxed, and all are in very good condition.

They are individually priced, however can do the lot for £40.00 + postage (£6.50 for them all - £3.00 individually).

  9. The order prompt reminded me to put in an order. I don't model UK, but...

The example I went for was 313204, a unit I travelled on between Brighton to Littlehampton back in September 2013.

    313204-BTN.jpg.c4190dc3bd1cedcd73dbb7a50aae55db.jpg

    313206.JPG.9c939c4834d710fec9a54158479c1bb9.JPG

The other Southern example is 313206 - and here it is, very nearly making itself public enemy numbers 1, 2 and 3 with the assorted group of photographers waiting on the approaching class 50 railtour!

Both are gone now, but at least they will live on in model form!

  11. Just back from a couple of days in Malta. Sadly, the buses have been updated, and now look like this...

  12. A good place to start is the following book...

    IMG_20231009_1018392.jpg.5d2d6de6a7b7ddcfd9e9411465888b8e.jpg

It goes into some detail around the timetable diagrams. There are some rudimentary track schemes provided in here.

In terms of track plans, the plans I have seen (I'll have a hunt around to see if I can find sources for diagrams) are pretty straightforward. The key for the quick turnaround is efficient train prep.

  13. We had a most enjoyable weekend; thank you to the organisers!

A few pictures of some of the layouts on display. I thought the general standard of the layouts was extremely high; I particularly enjoyed watching the smaller shunting layouts such as Penmaenbach and K Street Yard (which inexplicably I did not take a picture of!). Both extremely well presented and a no doubt very therapeutic way to spend a few hours operating...
