Looking good.
I don't mind ballasting. Bang on some tunes and set an achievable target in the time you have.

Look through this thread for some inspiration. Some images are lost due to the big outage a while back but there is still plenty there.

The footbridge on Selby Street in the background has now been removed, presumably during last weekends blockade at Hull.
Removed 23 March.

Quick silly question, is there still much freight to and from Hull docks. I’m guessing coal imports have now long finished leaving possibly just steel to and from the dedicated handling facility at King George dock?
Steel,Gypsum & biomass are booked to run most week days to the docks but often run only once or twice a week depending on requirements.
Also the Tilcon stone train still runs from Rylstone to the Hull Dairycoates terminal.

On a similar theme but not touching or leaning, I was at recent small show with a second hand sales stand next to a small depot layout with only around 18 inches between them.
I saw someone going between the two to look at items for sale at the back of the table, then turn to come out giving the depot layout a really good clout. As the layout was supported on trestles it really moved with most of the stock sliding an inch or two and a good couple of seconds for the movement to stop.

Am I missing something or is that a light engine and not the Hull/Brighton?
Or is that the joke? :)
Almost every time I post this picture on various sites everyone seems to only see a light engine lol.
I can assure you it's pulling 4 coaches.

as a kid between 1983 and 1988 i used to go for my dinner at my aunties at her railway cottage at Hessle Haven when most games played on a Saturday and i never saw one!. My uncle was a retired signalman by that time and he used to make a list of all loco's passing the house during the past week for me. 45/1's where regular performers on passenger trains but 45/0's were very rare birds. You might get one on a freightliner if you where lucky or the 15:30 Leicester train, The gaps in my Platform five pocket books bear testimony to this. My query was did Peaks ever work over to the eastern docks and i never personally saw one on a booked freight train.
We lived in view of the freight line but it was obscured by houses with just glimpses of trains. I did find this on Flickr by John Cook.

I live in Hull and had only just started spotting in the early 80s.
Whilst on a coach trip to Wembley we were suddenly alongside the overhead wires on the M1 when 87034 William Shakespeare shot passed the window! Wow! Completely different from the Hull scene.

Would be fantastic if anyone had any pictures of Peaks at Springhead, or even on test runs up to willerby. One thing does surprise me, that they would be allowed over the bridges at Calvert Lane. I never saw a Peak on the over head railway to the docks, i presume due to weight
Peaks were certainly used on part of the branch when hauling visiting football specials to Boothferry Park, then running into Paragon to run around.

Rob, the engineering works was at West Parade/ Argyle st Bridge area at that time.
I think HRJ was just used as a staging point until trains were required at the site.
