I was unable to log in..

But after reading the useful info that Andy provided..

I managed to log in by changing my user name to Bill, on my browsers auto log in system.

BUT.. (This is the simplified version it was actually far more convoluted)

I now needed to change my email address but could not remember my password and was immediately flung into a prisoners dilemma.

To change my email address I needed to remember my password.

Which could only happen if the password reset was sent to my old email address.

Which has long since expired.

So I guessed my password and although as it turned out the guess was correct.

The software told me it was the wrong password.

And would not accept the new password..

(So I emptied my browsers cache..)

But none the less, without informing me it had surreptitiously changed my password to its new form anyway.

(I hope you are following this).

However when I logged out and tried to log in using my old password (remembered by my browser).

Thinking the change had not gone through as it had been rejected by the software

It told me that my password was unacceptable.

That is when I then deduced that something had in fact happened concerning passwords, 

So I guessed again and entered my proposed new password,(in spite of being informed by the software that the password change had not gone through),

And voila - I was in!  (Hurrah!)

The password change had in fact gone through. 

(Does this remind you of the Princess bride or not?)

So I now had a password that the software, somehow, by some magic, had recognized.

And I was able to now change my email address..

It is all so very simple, a child could do it.

And my Heartfelt thanks to the team for all the frustratingly hard work that must have gone in to making this upgrade possible.

Well.. Exe arrived today - (Only time I have been delighted when an ex-e turned up.) So they have got as far as Halifax in Nova Scotia..

So I cleaned the track and set it running.

And it does indeed run, very smoothly on my ridiculous track building.

It traversed four sets of Peco points with no discernible problems.

The next thing will be to fit the coupling on the rear and see how Exe does with Clarabel, Annie and company..

My Father's first flight was in a Lockheed Hudson from Tempsford to a field somewhere near Ep in Holland.

Staggering to have plastic wheels for that price!

I wish it wasn't so, but It is about time PECO got with the metal wheels program..

I need to look at those they look quite good.

They look the part at that scale. Not bad - We'll see how they perform when Exe arrives

They come with Peco's plastic wheel sets.. So these needed to be replaced - 

I used Parkside Dundas Item PN53 ... 6.2 mm Dia. Metal Wheels 

Not all wheel sets at N scale fit all manufacturers..

These wheels were specifically designed to fit Peco and Graham Farish models..

Any stock to go with them?

These coaches, complete with their new metal wheels, have been patiently waiting for more years than I care to remember..

(And so has the connecting service..  )..

Reminds of an elementary problem in mathematics..

There is a hotel with an infinite number of rooms, all of which are currently occupied by an infinite number of guests.

How does the hotelier handle the problem?

Have you looked at Transferwise?

Transferwise works well - especially if you can use direct debit.. 

They do charge a fee but offer you a good exchange rate.

It works best if you are making medium to large payments..

If people REALLY believe the Earth is flat, would one of them please explain what stops all the water running off the edge? - and if it does, where does it all go?

(Disclaimer - Of course the world is not flat -) But if it was flat then there just has to be a giant train that runs around the perimeter collecting all the water.., And all that water comes back as clouds of steam from the boiler of the engine that pulls the train that collects the water... So now you know what causes all those clouds you see in the sky on a summers day..

If it’s any comfort I could have made the same posting except for changing the title from Royal Mail to Canada Post. I had an item that was sent tracked mail from 50km away, it got all the way to our local distribution centre and then disappeared. I called the sender and after a “suitable pause” for the CP wheels to turn the package was declared dead and a replacement was sent. Two months later I got an email from Canada Post to inform me that the package had been found and returned to the sender. And don’t get me started on tracked mail from the UK. I can follow it until it leaves the UK and then -nothing- until it shows up on the door waiting for a signature. Our service doesn’t track things seemingly even though you pay extra for the “service”.

The Canadian Post used to make all the tracking data from abroad available, but suddenly stopped letting the public know a couple of years back....

The reason for this remains a mystery,

but if you look at their website you will soon learn that the resident programmers have issues with understanding the way Canada Post functions,

and this could point to the root of the problem.

Probably not their fault as Canada Post probably has no idea as to how it functions as an entity..

But Canada Post does share tracking data with the appropriate country of origin.

So for example the German Post Office website lets me know that that my parcel has arrived in Canada..

I can then surmise it will probably be five to ten days before I get the parcel 

(It may also have been sent to Richmond B.C because someone mistakenly thinks that Nova Scotia is on the West Coast..)

Then I can again check with the German/French/Norwegian Post Office that I have received it..

(A seemingly pointless exercise but useful if the expected parcel did not turn up..)

So there is a viable way round a problem that has no viable need to exist..

But I have also discovered that un-tracked parcels arrive in better than half the time it takes for tracked ones to arrive..

My boss has recently started using the phrase "from the get go" (...and I really don't care if it should be hyphenated or not), in otherwise normal conversations.

 

Does anyone know how this can be stopped with minimal damage to:

a) My work environment

b) My boss

c) My career

d) My health (if I try to maintain outward calm)

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Fight fire with fire, get hold of a text on incomprehensible Yankee slang and start using it wherever and whenever opportunity presents itself...

This should put you in a position to make a deal with your boss..

On the other hand...

Well the Cycling Lion version arrived on Thursday..

I Un-packed it very carefully..

Dropped it on the floor from 4 feet, very un-carefully..

Fortunately it was still in its inner plastic case

Waited until Saturday after I had done the tax returns to test it.

In spite of the tumble, it worked a treat..

And wow! Never such a good runner right out of the box..

No hesitation on points, it took all the layout could throw at it and never for an instant wavered..

It looks the part and acts it, thanks you Hatton's for commissioning it and my thanks to whoever designed and made it.

It's currently having the time of its life with the gate stock...

And for its size it really should not be pulling much more, but it works as if it could handle a full rake of Pullman's..
