  1. Sure was!!!! Nice find - about 6 years earlier than my time frame but a photo is a photo and it means that my WD can come out of the display case for a run on the layout on a 'accurate' operating day
  2. From the website Matt linked too earlier, I havent seen any of these before: Double headed B1's crossing the WCML heading North with cars: http://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p32854980/h18f6d027#h18f6d027 Prince P reversing out of Kingmoor, presumably to head North over NB metals: http://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p32854980/h860cfcf#h860cfcf And seen again, heading in the right direction this time: http://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p32854980/h1e71f942#h1e71f942 Ivatt in the snow: http://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p32854980/hbb4ceef#hbb4ceef V2 with a few steam leaks heading north away from Carlisle: http://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p32854980/haa2086#haa2086 and another V2 going the same way in the snow: http://cumbrianrailways.zenfolio.com/p32854980/h761c2a2#h761c2a2
  3. It wasn't me, but thanks for that gem, its something I have been hoping to see for a long time - time for a renumbering session I think!
  4. Brilliant shot, can imagine the J3(6?) having been left coupled to that van in the bay on Christmas Eve and having had a nice layer of snow build up while out of steam.
  5. Very well executed that Dave, I have one of the Hornby models awaiting the same treatment of '65 condition on the 'to do' pile.... Out of interest, is the yellow cabside stripe a transfer or painted on? If it's a transfer who produce them, I have been searching but to no avail! Cheers Chris
  6. Nice find there on your trawl through every photo ever taken of industrial steam Oly Shame there is no date, but I would guess 1970 or slightly later by the locos condition, putting this firmly in the 'freight only' period of the lines existence?
  7. Possibly not, but what it lacks in clarity it makes up for in atmosphere, the period Triumph really making the scene!
  8. Sorry for the bad link, I think it is down to the 'm' at the start of the link going to te mobile flickr site rather than the full site, try this:
  9. Although Oly linked a few of this gent's photos taken at Riddings earlier in this thread, I don't recall having come across this one of a V2 labouring to Whitrope on a northbound freight, complete with brake vans fore and aft in true Waverley style, in '65 before? http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/64215236@N03/6070769911/in/search_QM_q_IS_60824_AND_mt_IS_all_AND_w_IS_all As an aside, has anyone got any suggestions on the laceration of the image, it seems to heavily wooded to be anywhere north of the 'Holm?
  10. All these new 2mm models make my pipedream of a Waverley main line layout, considered impractical in 4mm seriously tempting in the smaller scale!!
  11. It is indeed, I think it might be a calling to convert one of my 2 Hornby Falcons into Empire of India! As to the last coach, I would go with a Thompson, although it's difficult to say....
  12. Another one from the same collection, although not on the route proper, it's worthy of inclusion I think, tha A1 having just handed it's train over to Midland power for the journey south. http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/22770319@N02/6145100560/
  13. Came across this rather nice shot of 60011 as she rolls off the route onto Caley metals last night, I don't recall having seen this before in the thread. http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/22770319@N02/6001126779/
  14. Although not the best quality, and not on the route proper, this 1966 view of a B1 leaving Waverley on a Waverley Route passenger is worthy of a link, if only for the late date:
  15. A2 leaving Gala for Waverley: Clan at St Boswells: 80114 at St Boswells:
  16. I have just come across a collection of hand drawn signal panel diagrams while on a trawl through Flickr. While they are not directly related to this thread, they seem to fit quite well and should give anyone wanting to model the locations or boxes a good heads up, as well as being generally interesting! From north to south:- Selkirk Junction: Ravenswood Juction: St Boswells North: Hawick North: Shankend: Whitrope: Riccarton North: Riccarton South: Steele Road: Newcastleton: Longtown: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chopper_201988/4929170479/in/photostream Brunthill: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chopper_201988/4929743998/in/photostream/
  17. Nice little collection found on Flickr that I dont recall having seen on here before.... The lack of captions is a shame but the mind can create them I'm sure! All taken at Millerhill, some through trains and a few loco movements in the yard, collecting trains that are probably Carlisle bound. 60092, train reporting code chalked on her smokebox door, rattles by with a passenger: And a grimy B1 heading the same way: 60016 moves through the yard to collect her train: A Brush Type 4 light loco on the 'main': B1 awaits her train: 2MT on a freight on the main line - I can't recall having seen a photo of one of these on the northern part of the route before?
  18. And another one I don't recall having seen before (although again I could be wrong) Hawick shed in the 50's: http://www.railuk.info/gallery/notes/getimage.php?id=2190 Chris
  19. Hi All, As a long term 'lurker' within this group I think its about time I showed my face and contributed a few pictures I have just found.... I don't recall having seen these on here before but if I have then accept my apologies! Few shots of Carlisle Canal Depot just before closure- Interesting survey with a good mix of locos present, I presume the rows in the background with what appears to be a J39 and A3/V2 are withdrawn awaiting disposal: http://www.railuk.in...age.php?id=2163 I had not realised prior to seeing this image that the shed at Canal had been roofless while still open to traffic: http://www.railuk.in...age.php?id=2166 And a few post closure shots to make for good comparison: http://www.railuk.in...age.php?id=2164 http://www.railuk.in...age.php?id=2167 Cheers Chris
