I understand from a friend that the first batch have sold out, it has been removed from the shop webpage, just a note to say coming soon.
Both still showing as available to order when I just looked
Details of Platinum edition now up http://www.nrmshop.co.uk/models/product/276870.html

But if Hornby and Bachmann bring in all their 2010 ranges at that sort of price I'm afraid I will be one of those priced out of that part of the ready to run market. I will not be alone either.
Interesting you should say that, myself and others had similar views a few years back when Bachmann and Hornby announced big price hikes.
They are still around and so are we, but what I did find was that I buy just the ones I need or really like now. I used to make many whimsical purchases, but think twice now. Which is no bad thing I guess.
Reading many of the comments on here I am surprised that in these recessionary times there is so much spare cash to spend on previously unexpected models at this sort of price. Good old Barclaycard eh?
Not always, its called saving. With a bit of planning and self control its quite easy to plan for these things. Not everyone lives in the banks pockets.
I'd still like to know how much NRM are getting from the ??145.00. It can't be that secret or sensitive. Come on NRM spill the beans.
I did ask the NRM but the chap I spoke to was not aware of the actual amount.

Now we need some decent clerestories......
I was going to annoy the purists and put a rake of MGR's behind mine

Thanks for the pictures Chris.
This must be a favourite for the Model of the Year award.

Truro info now on www.Bachmann.co.uk
Backhead detail looks good.
No wires between tender and engine so assume DCC socket is in the loco, if there is one lol
-
I wonder what's next?!
Just asked that question but chap at NRM was not aware of the future plans.
They measured City of Truro up 2 years ago!
The Platinum edition is limited to 250 models. He did say they were limiting to 1 per customer.
The standard edition has no production limit and will be produced to supply and demand. Hopefully this will undermine the ebay profiteers a bit.
I initally rang them because the money is already on its way to the credit card without the adjustment for the pricing error.
The NRM chap said those affected should look out for the credit of ??21.75.
If they do not get it then to call the NRM who will refund straight away.
Lots of apologies from the NRM for the pricing error, but they will ensure its sorted out for those affected.

Guess what I've got. Richard picked one up from the Toddington press launch today and I've borrowed it for the weekend.
Will try to post a couple of pics later this evening.
Full review in the next Model Rail - looks like another working weekend!
(Finished the N gauge Hayling Island at 11.30 last night and was hoping for a couple of days off to do some decorating!)

Hi Chris,
If you can, would you mind taking a picture of the cab detail.
Thanks.
Garry

It will be interesting to see what level of cab detail there is.
I wonder if there is a DCC socket in the tender?

..........I think its called cashing in.
I think its called business.
Whats wrong with the NRM wanting to maximise profits for the museum?

Thanks for that - I'll give 'em a ring tomorrow unless they send me an email update. I was quoted ??145 plus VAT on the 'phone when I placed my ordery and my email agrees with that so hopefully they will be able to sort it without a nudge.
Mike,
See my previous post, they will sort it out for us without our intervention so we will only be charged ??145 for the standard version.
-
Might be worth a call once it is all sorted if you have already placed an order to make sure you get charged the lower price.
Just rang NRM and they confirmed its ??145 for the standard issue.
I was informed anyone who has ordered at the ??166.75 price will have the amount adjusted automatically before they charge the card down to ??145.
-
Lets not forget that the money is going to the NRM, its going towards the upkeep of the very things we hold a great interest in.
So look at it as buying a great model, with a bit of a donation on top for the museum (trying very hard to keep things positive)
-
........thats still probably cheaper than it is to make one!
Not to mention trying to get all that nice lining just right
-
One thing Garry didn't mention is that the quoted price of ??145 does not include VAT (or post & packing)
Yes I did, look further back lol
Just had a call from NRM.
The standard edition is ??166.75 NOT ??145.
The price for the standard edition quoted in the press release is excluding VAT.
The price for the platinum model is correct at ??195 inc VAT.
So if you want a standard version its ??166.75 plus p&p

BTW if ordering the standard edition check the price on your order.
My email confirmation just came through showing it as ??166.75 not ??145 as in the press release.
NRM are investigating and I am waiting their call back.
-
They aren't available on the NRM website yet or am I in the wrong direction? Standard issue for me, mine is to work not sit in a display case!
Correct, they have not had chance to update the website yet, but you can ring the order through on Customer Services telephone 01925 467 150 open 8am to 8pm.

Here we go, new models are announced and we get the usual comments about costs.
You get what you pay for.
This is a one off model only available for a short time, it won't be in catalogues for years to come like other models.
No doubt if it had been ??60 people would then be commenting on the lack of detail or quality etc.
Everyones got a choice, if you don't think its worth ??195 or ??145 then don't buy it.
Personally I think it is worth the premium to get something like this.
So I have put my money where my mouth is and just ordered one of each.
Nice lady at NRM stated both the Platinum and Standard edition are due in the next 28 days.

There is also a story doing the rounds that Bachmann have measured it up at the NRM so we shall have to wait and see.
The NRM told me this when I rang up to order the initial release of the NRM Deltic a year or 2 back.
I asked what others might be in the range and the lady told me Bachmann had measured up City of Truro..... oh and a Black 5
Bachmann City of Truro

In fact just had an email to say my order has been despatched so mine are on their way.
My order was number 9 to give you an idea when yours might be coming too.
