It is especially frustrating for a supporter of a club sinking without trace and no with manager (Whittingham is a loyal servant of the club; but no manager). I would gladly see S.O'D as Pompey manager; once everyone involved with the sale of the club get their fingers out of their a***s and get things sorted out.

Why the surprise ? If a manager can win the Champions League and the FA cup and still get the sack months later anything is possible.

I remember the W&H shop. visited when i was a lot younger in the 60s. Also visited Beaties at Southgate on a regular basis then as well. Used to cycle from my home in Edmonton. Happy days.

P.S also a shop in Lordship Lane, Tottenham, Dimmocks i think it was called. Sold my first train set there for 30 shillings, i was robbed.

Well that doesn't look good. Just shows the financial gulf between the top few clubs and the rest. I read somewhere a few years back that Man Utd took more in programme sales than Hartlepool generated in total income each season. Hope all works out well.

Just been reading about the Dutch linesman who died today after being punched and kicked by players at a youth team match. What is the game coming to when kids behave like this? They are following the example of their heroes in the top leagues, where poor discipline and abuse of officials is seen as part of the game. For all the calls for "Respect" and setting good examples there is very little to show for it. Without being xenophobic I can think back to the 1950s when I started going to Blackpool and almost all the players were from the British Isles there were never scenes of players mobbing the ref or linesmen. Can it be the influx of foreign players that has caused a change in what is accepted as "normal" player behaviour? Or is it pressure to win at all costs? My heart goes out to the family of the man who died on Monday.

Its the win at all costs i'm afraid. Whilst I obviously don't condone this behaviour, my son plays at U16 level and parents DO the line. Some I am afraid blatantly cheat flagging 'offside' when it quite obviously isn't. Of course violence isn't the answer but do feel some 'Lino' training is needed at this level. Also, before accused, not for one moment am I accusing the Dutch man of cheating, I obviously wasn't there.

For some reason my Windows 8 wont allow me to reply to posts, so in response to Colins post 2781...Coventry home for me in 3rd round. Revenge and sweet come to mind but wont say it as I wont tempt fate. Whilst here, what a difference 3 weeks make. When the Woolwich Exiles trounced us Wenger was God and AVB was Cr*p. Now Wenger doesn't know what his doing according to the Woolwich fans ( Oh how I wish he'd been our manager the last 15 years )and some idiot on the radio last night reckoned AVB would lead us to 2nd this year !!!! As for Chelsea, Well more fool Roman for appointing Mr Bean-itez in the first place. Surely He should have waited till next summer with Di Matteo before getting Guardiola. Hard to have much sympathy with the fans though as Romans roubles have brought them so much success these past 9 years and Wenger has been remarkable ( that hurts saying that ) even if he needs a visit to spec savers.
