People, the Nimrods were going to be retired on March 2011 anyway and replacement Aircraft (the Rivet Joint aircraft) are on their way.

  Errr... Joint Rivet intended as R1 replacement... not the MR2 or MRA4. I think that there's been some misdirection in the press... and as for Astor retirement !!!! replaced by a 707! How much is that going to cost over it's lifetime - or is it TSR2 and the F-111s all over again? Getting off my soap box now

  Ok, that's fair enough. But I've seen comments that it'll damage the UK's Air Security, but the Sentury E3's do the bulk of the work.
