How about using these from C & L Finescale, http://www.finescale.org.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=59 C1011 - Baseboard Track End Protectors 2mm,3mm at £4 a pair! looks likes they'd be nice and hidden once ballasted, these are what i'm planning on using. HTH Andy.
