  1. I don't do Facebook, not because I'm grumpy but I'm just not interested in getting involved with it , my mobile phone in my pocket has all the numbers of people I'm really bothered about and that's how I keep in touch with them .

My wife often shows me some of the rubbish posted by some vacuous morons she knows on Facebook and it usually revolves around " look at my cute puppy " "look at me pouting in front of the mirror" and other such tripe. Maybe she should have a review of her " friends" !!!

  2. Is the white colour on the battery charger really that much of an issue ? When mine arrives if I don't like the look I'll be painting over it ,surely it on takes a quick brush over of satin black and it's gone .

Im not one of the "get on with real modelling" guys but I think rectifying this really would be easy to even those who are maybe not so confident of their skills .

Like a few others on here I'm a bit more interested in seeing how the pantograph turns out.

    Cheers

    Paul

  3. Class 85 , it's a big left field but it's a beautiful model straight from the box and I struggle to find a fault from pretty much any angle, it's also the first time a real effort at a quality AC electric was made and it hit the bullseye for me.

Coach wise , I would also go for the inspection saloon.....stunning.

As for wagons , the polybulk / traffic services bogie hopper is head and shoulders above the competition, truly a benchmark.

  4. Heartbreaking and my thoughts are obviously with the those who lost their loved ones .

I can't help feeling both bloody annoyed by this and also a sense of resignation to the possibility of this kind of atrocity will become a regular occurrence around the world.........one things for sure I pray to whichever god it doesn't.

  5. Dave , I'm about to order a 74 , can you just confirm to me that the pristine ones do not have the "w" at the end of the part numbers , I just want to make sure I order the correct one !

I would also agree with Roy above re the 71 and 74 being advertised together , maybe if the 74 is stand alone on the website it may be a bit more prominent for sales .

  6. N872SJ Diesel 8. The 8's and Fat Albert made up a great fleet. The 74's never did quite seem to be right for Southern but did great work on AMC/MAC flights.

And as for Okada, they paid me well in Lagos on 72's. Ex Lufties straight out of D Check :sungum:

Their 1-11's were  bit dodgy though.

You mean you actually got paid by Okada ???? Monarchs would get halfway through a 707 c check, stop and then bag every removed item and stow them in the holds and tow the aircraft out to the remote stands at LTN and only resume the check when the payments turned up a week later.

There was another 707 they used to work ,I think they were called Naganagani or something, similar story there.

I could have sworn they also worked ZAS airline of Egypt aircraft although i might be getting confused with ATEL at STN....

Anyway keep the pics coming please , some great memories....

  7. No no no ..... definitely interesting...please keep them coming , MMMM.. Monarch Boeing 720B ,bit before my time but what a beautiful aircraft in great colours , I remember Monarch working the old Anglo Cargo and Okada 707s when I began at Luton.

I also remember when the A300s turned up and if I recall two pretty much went straight on lease to an Aussie outfit called Compass and in a really dull grey paint scheme .

Great stuff I for one love seeing these pictures, thank you.

  8. Hi paperlad, thanks for the pictures and information, all looks very interesting , I'm kind of used to software updates as we seemed to be doing them week in week out when I worked the EMB190 . I'm possibly doing the A350 at BA when they start running the courses at TBN training centre early next year (although that could change and I won't do the course at all ...you know how things change ) , I am slated to do the A320 neo though this year .

I haven't worked the A330 although I have friends who love them and rate them as a very reliable aircraft.

A320 CFDS via MCDU seems very basic now !

  9. Great photos !!! Brought a tear to my eye , first live aircraft I ever worked on was a Britannia 737-200combi g-axnb I think , strange one fitted with large upper fuse cargo door.

I can also remember the ex Orion 737-300 s the only ones in the Brits fleet .

I liked the Boeing 767 in the air Holland / air Aruba colours when it went on lease , something a bit different.

    Cheers for those ....

  10. Hitchinloco , yes please keep them coming! I served my apprenticeship at Britannia from 1988 so I love seeing these kind of Luton photos.

We used to carry out maintenance on those Air Ops TriStars at Marshall's in Cambridge, let's just say they had had a hard life , glad I was just a fitter at the time and not certifying.
