I found it a very enjoyable show as an exhibitor and I like the new venue with its airy and bright space. Thanks to Alex fromthe host club I was able to have a look around at other layouts and agree the standard was high. My own 009 layout, Selborne, behaved reasonably well and it was great talking to lots of participants. Thank you, Dawn, for the lovely piece of video.

Mark,
Thank you for the information on the A3 closure. The only thing I would add is, f you are coming around the M25, consider using junction 12 for the M3, then along to M3 junction 4 and down the dual carriageway A331 towards Aldershot.

If you like trays to rummage through, I expect the club second hand stall will be well stocked with bargains.

An exceptionally good advert for the hobby as a whole, not just the OO9 aspect of it. I do not envy whoever had to choose 'Best in Show'. I found it very difficult to pick a favourite five!
We got around that one by asking visitors on Saturday to vote for the 'Most Appealing Layout'. Pretty well every layout got a vote or two, but the clear winner was Kurseong, a very fine model of a famous station on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. John Crane was the deserving winner.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. There were lots of smiling faces on both Saturday and Sunday and many appreciative comments that has made it all worthwhile. It has been an immense effort by our organising team, but worth it to make it a memorable occasion. Statfold is a special place and they couldn't have been more helpful. If you've never been there, do go!

Unfortunately the layouts North Rokeby and Wheal Kist are no longer able to attend.
However, I am very pleased to say that Creag Dhubh Summit by Ted Polet and Yurze Ore Mine by Lucien Eijdems will both now be appearing making, with De Niggende Saligheyd, three layouts from the Netherlands.

I can update this as we have just agreed a bus service from Tamworth to Statfold. It has been a long story!
Details will soon appear on both the Statfold website and the 009 Society website.

Thanks to all at the Warley club for an excellent weekend with my layout, St. Mary's. The things the club can control, they control well and, as an exhibitor you are treated very well - you just have to accept that the NEC has a way of doing things that is different to most other shows. Clearly there were access problems for the visitors on both Saturday and Sunday morning, but my get-in on Friday and get-out on Sunday evening were generally painless. In between there were many people to talk to and many contacts made - the layout even behaved itself!
I look forward to being back next year.

Ah - a welcome Hart Lion's sausage bun (they do all the catering at the show). Before opening time, they wander the halls selling bacon and sausage buns to exhibitors and traders and very good they are too - makes me look forward to the next one already! (After opening visitors need to go to the cafe to eat.)
I am glad your visit to Aldershot was a success and congratulations to Redbridge Wharf on winning the 'Most Appealing Layout' vote by the public.

Thank you Jon, It has been a busy but rewarding day and I will pass on your kind comment to the other members involved. Most importantly we had lots of positive comments from visitors about the layouts and the trade. Fingers crossed for an equally successful day tomorrow!

A busy day for us all setting up and a lot is already in place. There is a big selection on the second hand stall ranging from modelling tools to boxed sets including some lovely N gauge locos and rolling stock, all at very reasonable prices.
Unfortunately it seems the two layouts from Belgium will not be joining us. We have added Mamhead, an 0 Gauge layout by JIm Edwards.
Fingers crossed for a good day tomorrow - there are many signs to guide you there!

As 009 Society members may know, the 009 Society AGM will take place at the same site as Narrow Gauge South on Saturday. Unfortunately in early editions of the Show Guide, the starting time is not shown correctly. The correct starting time is 2pm.
My apologies to members and the show organisers for any confusion.

I had a thoroughly pleasant day out with my 0-16.5 layout, St. Mary's, at Beckenham on Saturday. It is a well run show for both exhibitors and traders and had the biggest club second hand stand I have ever seen. It is held in a church which was definitely well ventilated so I was glad of four layers of clothing! Lots of people to talk to, from experienced modellers, to people just starting out in the hobby, to families of grandparents, parents and children - all really enjoyable.
Thanks to all those who worked hard to put on a successful day.

Thanks to everyone who came along, especially those who posted here - comments will be passed on. As expected (and budgetted for) numbers were down, but there was lots of appreciation for the wider aisles and generally increased space. Most importantly, visitors, exhibitors and traders went away happy, and glad to have been to a general model railway show again; also the raffle of a layout in aid of a local hospice generated a significant donation.
Roll on the 2022 exhibition!

We had an excellent day today - meeting many old friends not seen for at least 18 months. While the attendance has been good it was never crowded today because of the extra wide aisles, which got a lot of positive comments. There are some wonderful pieces of modelling in many gauges and scales ranging from small gems to three epic layouts, so something for most people.
Tomorrow we do it again from 10.00 till 16.30. All welcome.

The Farnham & DIstrict MRC plans to hold its annual exhibition in Aldershot on 9th and 10th October. The exhibition will be held in the usual place, Alderwood Leisure Centre, Tongham Road, Aldershot, GU12 4AS. Directions here.
Opening times are Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm. Tea and coffee will be available from 9.30am. We have made the aisles a little wider than usual, to aid social distancing, which means there will be slightly fewer traders than in previous years, but we still will have about 20 plus a similar number of layouts. We will be leaving doors open to aid ventilation; if the weather is poor it may be a little chilly in the halls, so wrap up!
Admission: Adults £6.00, Children £2.00, Family £15.00.
The layouts on show are:
Bridgwater S&DJR (7mm)
Canalside Ironworks (1:50)

Thanks to the large number of people who dropped by to look at the layouts in the 009 village and particular thanks to the Warley club for allowing us to put it on as part of the celebrations of the 009 Society 50th Anniversary. I hope the pleasure and enjoyment we felt in being there came across to visitors and you enjoyed the range of layouts chosen to illustrate some of what we are all about.
