Yes, Larry! Actually it makes no difference to my layout because it's wired for cab control and can be switched between DCC and DC. I agree it looks complicated, but that's not helped because the control panel is at the opposite end of the layout to the main track feeds and most of the points and signals - so most of the wires you can see just pass right along this board and on to the next. There's also two sockets in the fascia, one for a DCC controller and on for a DC controller, which also doesn't help.

Looks like this is a candidate for CBUS.

For that thickness of recalcitrant MDF, I'm not convinced any 2" batten will be strong enough to counter the warping.

It's not the MDF that's warping it's the 2 x 1. It's about time this 50's throw back way of making baseboards was consigned to the dustbin where it belongs.

Now you know why plywood is recomended.
