  1. That theatre is brilliant. On par with your usual standard.
  2. Bit more work on the station. Roads have been added, some kerbing, parking bays and greenery planted temporarily. Having put the parking bays in and some greenery it appears to be not enough parking for the station size. So there might be some parking area added to the right of the road between it and the station platform. Entrance road Small parking lot the overallshot, possible parking expansion in the lower right between road and platforms. Some more fencing has been ordered to finish off the staion and the Mrs has gone out to get some spray paint so the fening can be made black. Now to start work on the platform subway Stephen
  3. Here are some more station platforms R008 Station Platorms R008, Road R034 car park Tx22
  4. BLMA is the company who produced the fencing I ordered it through n scale supply here in the US
  5. So i decided to build the other station rather than the subway entrance. Ive used the scalscenes paltforms again and some wrought iron fence from BLMA. Ive never done a station on a radius before so this was a new challenge. The Voyager coach was used to trace out the line of the platform edge and then construction was started. It was interesting to try and build the platfoem on the workbench and then transport it to the layout whilst moving around on crutches. Clearances were checked again and it all fits nicelly. Then fencing is from BMLA and needs to be spray painted black and then it will just be a case of adding details and scenery when Im more steady on the old foot. Oh the keen eyed might find where attempts to break into station have already happened but the fencing seems to have worked. I then started on the otherside of the station, the station curve was traced out in the same way as mentioned above and the platform sheets were added. This side isnt done as i ran out of energy, so the platform ledge layers need to be added around the platforms. Roads and kerbing are next on the list to be done. Had to ask the Mrs to do the plastering that can be seen in the last picture to blend in the staion road. Here is an overall shot of progress so far Thanks for stopping by.
  6. That is interesting, be interested to see how it turns out.
  7. First off let me say Black Sheep that your Avatar brings back happy memories of England; several years ago we had a holiday in Yorkshire and my treat every night was from that Brewery. That is some excellent brew. Very hard to find over here in the States, though i do find it every once in awhile. Now to your question for the Heavy card i use a "cold press illustration board" by a company called Crescent its medium weight .050-.060 it says. This is sometimes too thick in which case you can pull some of the card lamination off or if not thick enough layer it with some thin card stock. I usually line the card stock up with the width of the wall etc on the scalescenes sheet and see how the thickness compares with what is required for each piece. Its a bit fiddely but seems to work for me. For the Light card i use card stock that goes through the printer so it prints right onto the stock. Then in the same manner as above will check to see if its thick enough, if not i just add another layer of card stock. There are several other ways of doing scalescenes mention on rmweb, this one seems to work for me. Happy building.
  8. This really does look terrific. I always enjoy checking in on your progress as your scratch built buildings here and you previous two layouts are something to look at. Truly inspirational.
  9. Well managed to finish off the Tunnel Portal and some of the Station Platform from scalscenes the past few days so here are some pictures. here is the template in place this is the tunnel portal prior to some weathering here it is after some soot has been added. There was a little issue about fitting the tunnel into place as i had not left a large enough opening when putting the plaster in but that was soon fixed with some trimming and cutting of plaster. Once the backscene is in place it will be nice and dark in the tunnel aswell. I havent quite figured out if there is away to fit in modified retaining walls on the left/right but for now im happy with it. Also did some work on one of the platforms for the station. It is just resting in place as I am planning on adding the platform subway entrance to this and i need to be able to lift it off and cut out some of the baseboard underneath. full length one of the ends Now to start the subway entrance.....

  11. Saturday last week was a beautifull automn day and i decided to take the boys and our dog for a walk, well i tripped. After walking back out to the car and heading home the pain in my ankle was amazing. So we went to have it x-rayed; drs says to me I've broken the talus bone in my foot/ankle. This bone is essentially the socket joint if your ankle was a ball and socket joint. So I get to go home with a temp splint and crutches. While out the post arrives which has a bogie from Bachmann for my class 66 and a Grasstech static grass applicator, great something to do whilst im injured. We then get a call to have my ankle/foot put in a cast. The cast goes from my knees to my toes and I am on prescription pain killers, i cant stand up as they want me to keep my foot elevated and the pain killers make me groggy, not the best combination for modelling. Six weeks im going to be like this, no flying (hence out of work) no cycling and no weight is to be put on cast/ankle!!! Scalscenes kits seem to be the answer thought in short bits as it is hard to cut and glue while sitting with an elevated foot, my wife laughted at me yesterday for the position i was in while finishing of the tunnel and starting the patforms. Be intesesting to see how many get finished in the next sis weeks, Will post some picyures when i wke up. Sx weks o this ...

  14. try to come to grips with walking with crutches: broke my ankle this past weekend. Walking and standing are very painfull.

  15. This is going to be picture heavy. Had the weathering powders out, so weathered all of the remaining containers and my Thompson lorry. Now to work on the Scalescenes Tunnel.
  16. looking throught the new RMweb mag

  17. Scott, It is all Peco track, points and flex. I had tried the Atlas track but found that some of the older Farish locos and wagons fouled the points. Had to open the guides up on the points with a dremmel; seemed like a lot of extra work. See entry #4 to see where I had to dremmel. Hope this helps Stephen
  18. So the TCM 430 container loader has been put together; it can be assembled in two different version. I have gone with the second version, with the lower cab. The instructions are not in English, but it goes together simply and with the pictures from Osborns it was done. All the piece arranged and ready to go: Version one: Version two; Once it was all put together it was time for some branding and weathering. A light dusting of powders and dust on the wheels and Freightliner branding we were done. Right so the loader is done now to weather some containers.
  19. They are standard farish ones with a piece of card fitted in and ballast then clued onto the card insert.
  20. Kris, I agree they neeed to be muddied up, those pics were straight from the box; do you have pics of what your diggerslook like?
  21. Returned home from a week of flying to find a package from Osborns and one from N Scale Supply had arrived; now I dont want to turn this into "a look what I bought" theme but here we go. From Osborns: (these are fantastic little models) From N Scale Supply: Fine chain link fencing and wrought iron fencing (needs a coat of flat black) Now to put the container loader together.
  22. An email to Bachmann and a bogie assembly is winging its way across the "pond". Very impressed with customer service, especially as its international. More ballasting has been done in the past days. 56704 was out doing track cleaning duty so it was pressed into service for ballasting too. 56704 is seen here picking up the train It then reversed up the line to start work. Here is the outcome. A first layer of grass has been put down in areas as has some gravel. Tried some lighter coloured ballast in the concrete plant, not sure if i like it or not. Once this liitle bit of work was done 57602 was used to take the works train away, the eagle eyed out there might notice a little bit of static grass has been added. Not entirely pleased with it as im awaiting arrival of the grassmaster, so this was done with a charge of a balloon. Thanks for stopping by
  23. having been in the train room twice and each time broken something ive decided to stop going in there today.

  24. My Freightliner Class 66 has been declared a partial failure; split gear. Bogie and gear stack removed and it does bind after a couple of rotations, email sent to Bachmann and BRLines for spares.
  25. We (the boy and I)had a track and loco cleaning day, so armed with trackcleaning fluid, kitchen paper roll and my Atlas track cleaning car we headed of for several hours. The loco wheels were cleaned by placing some fluid on the paper towel and then providing power by one set bogies and the other bogie was on the wet paper towel. The loco was turned around and presto clean wheels, its amasing how dirty the wheel can get and how much better works when clean. This process was repeated for each loco. The track was cleaned by first putting cleaning fluid into the Atlas cleaning car and runniing this around. Once this was done the fluid pad was removed and the light sanding pad was attached, this was run around and the track was clean! We then turned our attention to Gloucester Road MKII and the boys got to run the above process on their layout. We also modified the track layout a bit as Henry and Percy were derailing, so four points were removed and all runs much better on "Sodor". Sir Topham Hat is much happier. 56074 was pressed into service for track cleaning duty. This loco runs great even at very slow speed, but it is showing its age when it comes to detail. Looking forward to see Dapols' version. Here is 56074 on Gloucester Road MKII And two shots of it on Gloucester Road MKIII Track possessions will continue as more ballasting is planned for tomorrow. Tata for now. Stephen
