I have now added photos of visits to the Bluebell Railway and South Devon Railway in August to my 2013 page. There is also a video from the Bluebell, to be found under the photo gallery - my first for the site! You will also hopefully notice that I've freshened up the template for the site.

The delay in posting is a result of losing one of my cameras whilst at the Bluebell. I had given up all hope of finding it, but a very kind member went far out of his way to find it himself and return it to me, 2 months later, still in working condition. Whilst most of the photos from this day are from a camera that I had borrowed from my dad for the day, I wanted to wait to see if the camera could be returned before posting any photos.

The set from Rails and Ales at the South Devon Railway is the first to have been taken with a DSLR. It is circa 2005, and was a gift from a neighbour who is keen on photography, and has little use for it anymore. I've not yet had time to learn how to use it, but I was relatively pleased with the results so far.

I had posted a couple of these photos in another thread on this site, so you may recognise them!

As usual, comments and constructive criticism will be more than welcome!

I have added photos of my recent impromptu trip to Didcot to my 2013 page. Hopefully it will whet the appetites of those going to the Castle's event later in the year!

My updates haven't been attracting much attention of late, and when people do visit my site, the viewing statistics show that they don't venture away from the linked page. I am considering starting a thread to replace this blog to see if that will improve viewing numbers.

As with all my posts, constructive criticism would be welcome!

I have just added some photos from my visit to the Bluebell last week to my 2013 page, along with photos from the Bodmin and Wenford Railway's Pannier Gala and the South Devon Railway's Easter Gala that I hadn't previously advertised.

    3205 was visiting the Bluebell:

    Sample from Bodmin:

My photos from the SDR are stored on another computer, but expect to find photos of short goods trains and the 57xx running in London Transport red livery!

My 2012 page is finally under way! Updates include the South Devon Railway's Easter Gala, a footplate experience at the Kent and East Sussex Railway and a wet week in Snowdonia.

I feel that I should point out that only visit was made with the sole intention of taking photos, and that was the SDR Easter Gala. It is self explanatory as to the reason for this at the K&ESR, and the trip to Wales was a family holiday.

I have tried to take the advice of Oldudders from my latest blog entry - stand further back and zoom in where possible. This was good advice (as expected!) and I feel that my 3/4 shots of locos have improved.

    Here are some samples:

As usual, comments and constructive criticism are welcome/encouraged!

    Thanks for looking!

    Hello everyone,

Just a small update to round of a moderately successful year.

At the top of my 2011 page you will now find a few photos of the Santa specials at the South Devon Railway.

    Here's a sample:

I hope that 2012 treats you all well!

I updated my site a while ago but never got round to advertising the update on here, thanks to a stressful exam season

    Well, here goes:

    SDR Cambrian Gala

A fantastic day out, lovely weather and a nice varied timetable. I'm glad I made the effort to get to the railway. The first time I had seen the Dukedog away from the Bluebell and the last, for the time being at least - the engine was withdrawn early a couple of weeks ago.

In the next half hour I will also be adding a few mainline photos. Cromwell and Tangmere!

    Here's a little preview:

    Hi!

First new update of the year to my website. A great line up at the Bluebell Branchline Gala, though the weather was pretty poor, leading to some less than satisfactory shots! I havn't yet seen anyone else's photos from the Sunday, presumably due to the weather.

Here's the link to the new 2011 Page.

    As usual, comments are welcome!

Still having trouble with attaching samples to this blog, but I think that I have been successful this time!

This update includes Rails and Ales at the South Devon Railway and a couple of photos taken passing the West Hoathly whilst out walking.

2010 is now rounded off, though I don't see there being another set of photos for a few months.

I don't feel that I get on with this Blog format all that well so I will start a work bench thread later in the year when I start work on some of my locos, so I will post updates to the website in there with sample photos.

The first of my Easter trips is now up on my Weebly. Not the best day for photography, but I have put a fair few up.

Still waiting to be uploaded are photos from a sunny day at the West Somerset and a few from Okehampton. These will follow in a few days.

This summer, I expect to be visiting Paington, Woody Bay, West Somerset (Tornado) and Bluebell (50th celebrations). A return to South Devon is also likely.

I will upload a few more samples to my gallery on RMWeb once I have finished uploading onto my Weebly.

As promised, I have finally added the remainder of the photos I took over easter - West Somerset and Dartmoor Railways.

I have also added photos from a trip to Woody Bay in June and a further trip to the Dartmoor Railway.

They can all be found on the 2010 page

    Steam, Diesel and Narrow Gauge!

Coming in the next few days will be my last album from the Rails and Ales Gala at the South Devon Railway in August.

I have tried to post a couple of tasters but it doesn't seem that it will work.

I have been a bit slack when it comes to updating this blog of late, so I have a few updates to draw your attention to:

    1. South Devon Railway - Rails and Ales, August 2012

    Visiting 64xx from Langollen

    2. Dartmouth Steam Railway - August 2012

A trip in the observation car on a very sunny day, with the 42xx 'Hercules' in steam

    3. Tornado passing through Petts Wood woods - December 2012

Just a single photo with the loco fresh in BR blue

All of the above can be found on the 2012 page

    4. Blazing Saddles at Peak Rail - March 2013

A gala event with 5 austerity saddle tanks in steam to kick off the 2013 page

In the near future, it is currently in my plans to visit the SDR again over the Easter weekend to see the 57xx return to steam in London Transport livery, and a few weeks later I intend to visit Bodmin for their pannier tank gala. I can't make the Bluebell's East Grinstead opening weekend but I'm sure I'll fit in a visit at some point this year.
