  1. Hi Thanks for all the replies. Will order new motor and attempt to fit. Thanks Paul26e
  2. Hi to all at RM Web I wonder if someone could help me? We have a 7 year old Hornby Thomas that has not been used much. Tried to run it yesterday and all was fine for a while. Then it started making a grating sound and then stopped altogether. On inspection it seems all is fine with pick ups but the motor is no longer meshing with gear on driven axel! I have found Hornby service sheet on line and no parts appear to be missing or broken. I have taken it to bits and there is a lot of grot on gear on motor. Would this be enough to stop it meshing? Anyone experienced anything similar with any recent Hornby 0-6-0? Thanks in anticipation Paul26e
  3. To Dave - Thank you very much for this thread. I too have really enjoyed it and it has got me wanting to make models again. I understand with a new baby time is probably tight but have you a next project? Many Thanks Paul26e
  4. Hi Dave - well done on this threat, very inspiring. Couple of questions. Please could you give more detail on how you painted the ballast. I have a largish layout that needs ballasting and cost is one of the things that is putting me off. yours looks very good. Also you mention sand came from the pet shop, does it have any special name? Also how old do you think your class 25 is? I have one which I suspect is late '70's vintage and despite tinkering with and spair parts is a very poor runner. Did they improve over the years. I would not recommend mine for a beginners layout, I think the poor running would spoil the layout for a beginner! Carn't wait to see finished layout. Many Thanks Paul
  5. Hi to all Thanks for the response to my quieries reagrding Green Scene's textured paint. I don't think I will try it. I may consider the sandpaper idea, but I think experimenting of some other ideas is on the cards! Thanks for the replys Paul26e
  6. Hi to all readers of RM Web I need to paint the card surfaces of my station platforms and I wondered if anyone else has used Green Scenes textured paint for the final surface? If so was it good? Appologies if this should be in a different section of RM web. Many Thanks Paul
