  1. Attached is a google earth file that marks out lost lines across the south of Britain. Its been an on going past time for me so thought I would share progress. Rename the file type from .doc to .kmz Regards Disused Railways.doc
  2. Hi Robert, I believe you are referin to the Farish coaches. This topic is regard Dapols Mk3 coaches, which we are in fact still waiting patiently for :/ Regards
  3. Mk3 TGS Coach, note the blank wall nearest the camera with the ability for the extra width door to open. These coaches are only present in Intercity 125 High Speed Trains. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tutenkhamunsleeping/5472832653/ For Mk3 coaching stock running in non-HST trains, a Mk3 'DVT' (Driving Van Trailer) is used. http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/5144863097/ Class 43 with nose buffer conversion. Created as a stop gap solution during the testing and implementation of the electric Class 91 and Mk4 coaching stock. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tutenkhamunsleeping/5455223343/ Mk4 'DVT' (Driving Van Trailer) generated as a permanent solution to the above Class 43 locomotive conversions. These coaches save the need for a full locomotive at both ends. http://www.flickr.com/photos/47309173@N06/4544230554/
  4. I guess given the investment into the HST production range that it will be TRFBs rather than RFMs, but we can always hope.
  5. Excellent news regarding the Buffet and Standard Open coaches in Pretendolino. Shames it looks like we will still be short of one final coach (even after 3 years). Need to get my ass in gear and customize an existing TSO if I can still find one lurking in the back of a model shop. Adam
  6. You could look at it another way and say that whether comments are good or bad, people are focused on Dapol productions so much that nothing goes unnoticed! I can relate very directly to the position Dave puts himself in by being here, so thank you for taking the time and risk to keep us unruling lot informed Regards
  7. has just started finishing the first coat of paint

  8. I have finally made a concerted effort where structures are concerned for Cathedral Hill. While several structures are RTR from the gorgeous new range provided by Bachmann, there are some aspects that pop up just too often on layouts that I didnt want to repeat. Namely, the main servicing shed that is to take second centre stage to the wash units. While I am still largely a novice when it comes to 'true' modelling as many articles put it, I decided not to go all out and build a structure from the ground up. To help me get started I have used the Peco NB80 Modern Diesel Shed (or several of them t be more exact). using only the main structure without the roof applied, I started out by bending some plasticard over from one side to the other to create a curved roof, using the apex to affect the bend. Only the edges of the long walls were glued to allow the plastic to curve, rather than bend directly on the apex. After that, break impressed plastic was used for the sides, with a slightly smaller corrugated form layered on top while leaving the first 1cm free at the base. This forms a nice 'foundation' appearance that is commonly seen. Both doors were then cut out at one end, but on one door at the other. This is because one track is for storage while the through track is intended also for shunting of dead units, or units longer than 3 coaches. Finally, small doors were cut in and backed by a simply layer of white plastic sheet. I thought I might have to fashion intricate door detail, but in N, and from the angle of viewing, such things wont be seen anyway. The only other major detail still outstanding is what to do about roller shutter doors. I envisage that the shed will be accessible at all times, so no doors will be closed. I do not like the swing door approach of the original shed, so will probably fashion something to hand above but mostly out of sight.
  9. Admittedly there is a lack of traffic for a 4 track line, but the footage was taken towards the end of the day when we were winding down. As I was controlling all my trains most of the time...rather than filming them
  10. To open my blog I would like to post a video recently produced, displaying the fun recently had at a running session held by my local model club - Berkshire Area Group. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jhkbd3Jl860 www.bagladdies.com
  11. Hiya I believe that just recently, Antics in Guildford has closed down. The website no longer shows them listed in the quantities either. While I admit that I wasn't too fond of the guy who ran it, I did find that it was always well stocked or would order stuff in very quickly. This just leaves ModelZone in Guildford, which sadly for me, doesn't stock anything N Gauge related. Regards
  12. For anyone interested. I recently enquired about dummy freightliner 86s, and twin packs for those wishing to run prototypical Freightliner container trains. Dapols response was that 2010 Catalogue releases remain priority, so anything outside of this will not be on the cards until next year. Aside from that, they were optimistic that such products may well appear. Regards
  13. Cheers for the details Dave. Very much appreciated. Regards Adam
  14. Hiya, I would just like to comment that your image sof the scottish region are fantastic. I actually stopped and looked at each image individually to enjoy what you had captured. Thank you for sharing them.
