  1. Most colours are subjective but I think Green is the most subjective colour you can get, and will easily differ due to age, wear, and the intensity of light. However I do agree that the Green used by Bachmann does appear to be more pleasing to the eye than the Green used by Hornby!
  2. My abstract railway themed images for contribution to the thread, although the black and white was taken at the Guinness factory in Dublin, so is not technically a UK image. The other is the cab in the overflow car park at the Churnett Valley Railway taken in July.
  3. I seem to recall that Hornby uses self coloured plastic, therefore the green is actually the plastic itself. However I cannot find anything to back that one up, so I could be wrong!
  4. A few photos of the Swindon Ltd Edn that arrived. As you can see, a little bit different to the usual red box, complete with history booklet and slim line certificate. To check out what the loco looks like, scroll up through the previous posts for an example.
  5. My Swindon finally arrived and I was pleasantly surprised. Opened it up to expect the usual red box, but was surprised to find a green box! A limited edition box for a limited edition loco! Very nice. I think the booklet is a bit disappointing size wise, but at least it fits in the box so it won't get lost. The limited edition certificate makes a nice change and fits nicely in the box without being folded up like the Bachmann certs. Now to test run the loco to ensure alls well.
  6. Not too sure I understand. Being the very last castle to leave Swindon Works, it would have only worn BR late crest...
  7. Take a photo and post in here! I'm still waiting for mine!
  8. I tried using the peco kit with the frizzinghall gearbox, and it just sounded like a box of spanners! Never tried it without the motor as for me motorisation was a key feature I was after. I ended up going Heljan which works fantastically well. I would steer clear of the Hornby offering, as that is reputed to be pretty loud too - That and it looks a bit too toy like to me!
  9. Here's the best vid I've got at the moment. Bachmann class 47 (Factory fitted and unmodified) running on my layout. I must video some more when I've got the time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnAglLYDO30
  10. You could always check out and emulate this fellas work! Scroll down to the bottom of the page for his attempt at Goathland. http://www.scenicmodelrailways.com/page_337517.html
